The apartment is an ideal base for skiing, mountain walking, mountain biking, fishing, golfing, or sightseeing.

The apartment is just 150 metres, about 4 minutes walk, from the Gondola ski lift, and you can see it from the balcony! The delightful historic old town with its cobbled streets and character Mehanas (traditional taverns) is 10 minutes walk. There are shops and restaurants conveniently located within 50 metres from the apartment, and it’s just 5 minutes walk to the modern ski-resort centre with night life, ice rink, restaurants and bars. Ski hire shops are located very conveniently between the apartment and ski lift. There are spas, swimming pools, shops and restaurants all within 3 minutes walk. A car is not necessary but there is on-site car parking if required.

Apartment description: New in 2011, this is a spacious one-bedroom apartment on the first floor of a quality apartment development.

The apartment area is 55 m2 and consists of hall, bedroom, lounge/diner/kitchen, shower room, and balcony. It sleeps 5 people: 2 in the bedroom, 2 on the double sofabed in the lounge, and 1 on the single sofabed in the lounge. For larger groups there are several adjacent apartments also available to rent. There is a ski locker and restaurant (opening winter 2013) on the ground floor, together with spa and swimming pool (for a small charge) in adjacent building.

There is free Wi-Fi in the apartment.

Activities: From December to April the apartment is an ideal base for skiing. In the summer months of May to September the climate is warm, and being located on the edge of a world heritage national park, it is ideally located for mountain walking, mountain biking (available for hire locally), golfing (there is an 18-hole Ian Woosnam golf course about 3 miles away), and general sight-seeing in this picturesque mountain location.

The balcony offers beautiful views across the Glazne river to Mount Vihren and the Gondola, and enjoys a wonderful sunny aspect most of the day.

Ski locker: there is a designated ski locker on the ground floor.

There is a choice of spas and indoor and outdoor swimming pools nearby, the closest being a pool and spa in the adjacent building.

Nearby outdoor swimming pools are usually open in July, August and September. Indoor pools are open during the winter, and spas all year.

£100 security deposit is payable 1 week in advance. This will be returned within 7 days providing there is no damage to the apartment.

25% or £50, whichever is greater, is required as a deposit on booking. The balance is payable 3 weeks in advance.

There is a £15 charge per booking for cleaning, linen, towels and toiletries.

The Blagoevgrad Province region

Bansko is on the edge of the Pirin National Park, which is included in the UNESCO list for cultural and natural sightseeing. The park is rich with lakes, waterfalls, caves, venerable trees and historical sites.

There is a skiing area to the south and a world-class golf course to the west. the climate is cold in the winter and warm in the summer with outdoor and indoor swimming pools.


Bansko is Bulgarias' premier skiing resort, and has hosted world cup events.

Other local activities include: Mountain biking, Golf, white water rafting, horse riding, mountain walking, and fishing.

South of Bansko is the National Park Pirin, which is included in the UNESCO list for cultural and natural sightseeing. The park is rich with lakes, waterfalls, caves, venerable trees and historical sites.

There are many short walks from Bansko itself through the woods and in the lower mountains or to local lakes and past tiny chapels and other places of religious or historical interest.

The gondola operates during the day in the summer months, offering access up the mountain to many walks or take a taxi ride to one of the mountain huts and plan your walks from there. There are walking maps readily available in Bansko but the main trails are well marked.

It is extremely easy to eat well and for a very reasonable price – all over Bansko.

There are about 100 traditional ‘Mehanas’ (Bulgarian Taverns), mainly in the old part of town, and many modern restaurants in the new end of town nearer the ski lift, and 4 within a 2 minute walk from the apartment!.

Eating out costs around £4 - £6 per head for 2 courses and a drink. A cappucino is around £1 and a beer £1.20.

Naturally, meals are more expensive within the Hotels where an impressive, fine dining selection may be also found. Local dishes include the ‘Sache’ which is a sizzling stone plate brought to your table with meat, vegetables and spices – often shared by 2.

Also the ‘Kapama’ and ‘Banski Starets’. Meat is often pork but chicken is nearly always available too. The best value can be found in the old town, but also within 2 minutes walk from the apartment there is a log cabin style restaurant with mountain views and a hearty 2-course meal including a drink costs about £5.
