The Torchio Trullo was absolutely lovely. The recent renovations have created a beautifully modern but sympathetically completed accommodation. The outdoor space is ideal for those seeking absolute solace, peace and quiet. The pool is great, even at night when you can use the amazing lighting system "disco pool". Lovely tranquil location and perfect for exploring Puglia

We stay at the Trullo which was small for a family of 4 but beautifully designed and a very relaxing base from which to explore Puglia. The location is lovely and with great attention to detail by the hosts Antonella and Saverio and also Saverio's parents who live on site. One day we were presented with a basket of freshly picked tomatoes and peppers - a lovely touch and typical of the hospitality they provide. The pool is beautiful, although closed in the evening. Trullo negli Alberi, Trullo in the Trees
Third visit and still loving every minute

My family and friends visit Italy every year, staying in many different areas and villas the length and breadth of the country but unusually this was my third visit to Trullo negli Alberi. We have never returned to the same holiday venue, always on the lookout for something different each time we return. What made this trip different is that there was no reason to look elsewhere; Puglia and the trullo in particular have everything we are looking for. Each year we return, there is always a slight frisson of excitement – what has Chris done to the place this year? As it happens this year it was solar heating in the pool. Seeing as I spend most of my time in and around the pool, this was a delightful and much appreciated surprise! He has also installed more DVD’s than one family could ever watch plus the weather this year was so amazing we never even turned on the set once. I don’t often do this but I would like to report on some recommendations and hope they will still be useful next year. Do visit the little restaurant along the road. We found it too dark to walk there though it’s not far as there are no road lights but then we were told that no one worries about drinking and driving that distance and certainly the locals took this advice to heart. I have to report that I didn’t. You must eat at the ‘slow food’ restaurant just off the small square in Locorotondo. The chef/owner/waitress there is something you should go and experience. You get given what she’s cooked and she expects you to finish it all. The wine for a local venue was rough and ready but somehow it all went so well with the venue and the food that we loved it. As we left she shook our hands and wished us well – what more can someone want for an evening out. Our flight left very late from Bari (20.50 in September 2011) so we were looking for something to do after we had to leave our ‘home’ for the week. We chose to visit the beach club Masseria Coccoro and though expensive it does give you access to a wonderful beach, lunch and more importantly showers, setting you up nicely for the return to UK. This year we had the chance to arrive 2 days early so stayed in Matera prior to arriving at the tullo. If you have time (and you really should make it if possible) do visit the town. There is nothing like this anywhere in the world. But don’t take my word for it – visit it for yourself and see if I’m right!
