“Excellent little family getaway!” We were so happy we stumbled (online) across 'Angel Villa'. Annie and Rod (Aussies too!) were the most accommodating gracious hosts, who could not do enough for us! My husband and I were pleasantly surprised to arrive to a gorgeously clean spacious family room with ensuite and a beautiful pool with wide steps (great for kids) right out front surrounded by a stunning garden. We were traveling with our four year old son and 9 month young baby daughter. We brought along our travel cot, which I was able to easily put beside our bed and our son slept comfortably on the fold out mattress. We could have stayed in a resort room, but we preferred to enjoy the real Bali and annie and Rod helped us to do just that. Plus, there are plenty of delicious restaurants not too far and the drive into Ubud centre is not far at all. Our driver 'Made' (who was introduced to us and who we hired through annie and Rod) was so helpful he took us on some amazing scenic routes we wanted to go see. In my opinion, Annie and Rod could be asking more for their beautiful accommodation, which made it super affordable so we could enjoy having breakfasts at Bali Buddha (excellent extensive menu especially for the kiddies) and elsewhere. Aprox. 4-5 minutes drive, or 15 or so mins walk from angel Villa, is an exceptional Balinese restaurant called Kayun that is all organic and that grows it's own plant-based foods around the restaurant and serves it up on the menu! As a chef, I was very excited to see this. There is also a little (not fancy and no MSG) 'Warung' right beside angel Villa. We felt safe and well taken care of. Our little ones were happy and loved the pool - such a welcome treat after a busy day out checking out the spectacular sights. It was like a little home away from home and I know we have now made some very special friends for when we return... very soon! Thank you annie and Rod for being the best hosts ever! xox The S. “Villa in Paradise” We stayed at Hillside for one month in aug/Sept 2011. The villa is very large and is approx. 40 minutes drive north of Ubud near a small village. Our driver ariana and the other staff really made us feel very welcome and it quickly became our second home. Be aware that it is in a rural area and the access road to the villa is very rough so you may want to limit your travels outside the villa or rent a motor bike for easier access. As we did. The villa is well set up and has a beautiful pool although during the time we were there it was too cold to use. Be prepared this area can get chilly at night during this time of the year. The gardens around the villa are beautiful. The neighbouring forests are magnificent and you can spend days sitting on the terraces just watching the local farmers tend their rice paddies. Ubud is a mecca for great cafes and lovely restaurants. We fell in love with Ubud and the people of the region. We would recommend Hilsside Eden to anyone who wants peace and quiet in a beautiful garden setting and is okay with a 40 minute drive to town.

“Magical” Beautiful Villa amrita was home to my family of 9 for a week in July. We were 5 adults, 3 children and a 7 month-old baby. From the wonderful warm welcome,as we walked through the gates, to the supremely comfortable,elegant accomodation,gardens and pool, it met our every need. The staff were fantastic,esp. Sedana (sp?),whose magic touch with the baby,and attention to our every need, were outstanding. Villa amrita has been developed with great thought and immaculate taste. The truly magical experience, that gave this review its title, occurred at night,children in bed,as we sat by the pool, listening to the sound of running water. Suddenly,the dark,tropical night was lit by dozens of fireflies,skimming across the pool,and flashing in the trees. Heaven!
