“Excellent value for money” We spend 5 memorable days at Mandalay with our two kids (12 and 17yrs). There is no better place to relax after a full week of intensive travel throughout Sri Lanka. The house is nice and cosy, the pool irresistible, the garden luxuriant, the view on the countryside breathtaking and the service provided by the caretaker five stars. He cooks, takes you to the neighbourhood for shopping, sightseeing or to the nearby beaches whenever you want. Bentota beach is fanatastic. All in all, Mandalay is an excellent value for money.
“Paradise” Ratnakara is a luxurious, large and comfortable villa. Set amongst a jungle full of monkeys and beautiful rocky bays. There is a small bay just down the driveway and the walk to the lighthouse is a must. The staff are professional, warm and very attentive to all your needs. The house dogs were friendly and our kids loved them. The pool was huge and I would do laps every morning. We enjoyed the cooking from the chef and found deciding what to eat the most difficult aspect of our day. We absolutely loved staying at this amazing villa and could not recommend it highly enough for every type of traveller. Do your self a favour and book this villa whilst in Srilanka. We are so glad we did...
“Absolutely fabulous - we will be back.” Stunning beautifully furnished colonial house with four poster beds and wonderfully luxurious bathrooms, fabulous pool and gardens, and superb staff. The meals were out of this world (e.g. freshly caught prawns the size of lobsters on the bbq), the service fantastic, the children in their element with the pool, croquet, walks in the neighboring paddy fields and local villages, searching for peacocks etc. The beaches nearby are truly special, and Galle Forte itself a gem. We fell in love with Sri Lanka and will certainly be back.
Lying off the coast of India, Sri Lanka offers nature and culture unlike any other nation. A colourful and varied landscape, and teeming wildlife make for a unique experience. The cities here are diverse, from frenetic Colombo to relaxed Kandy and Galle, the most important town in the south. Across the island there are ancient Buddhist remains and wonderful nature reserves to explore.

Everything I needed and more
This villa is Sri Lankan living to the full. Kamal is on hand for all your needs. Thank you. It is 5 mins walk to beach, has a little shop next door, Sammy will advise you on any questions and the main supermarkets and banks are 10 mins in a tuk tuk, the drivers will wait and bring you back for about 300 rupees £1.50.
The villa has lovely large bedrooms with excellent air conditioning, sheets and towels are provided. The kitchen is basic but has everything you need. The garden is a complete sun trap and very private.
Kamal will also arrange tours of the island for you at a very competitive price. You must visit Kandy and Galle.
Thank you Kamal for a fantastic holiday. See you next year xxx …
August Beach House
Can't wait to go back!
I recently spent a short stay at the newly named August Beach House which is situated on the beach of Weligama Bay. Such a lovely house in a great location. Michelle was great with the last minute booking and I think the combination of lovely staff, stylish decor and one of the South's best surfing and swimming beaches makes this house unmissable. Can highly recommend. …
Pet-friendly villa close to beach and town but away from hustle and bustle
I stayed at Villa Serenity with my dogs for almost a year and a half. The villa is very spacious and has a beautiful, well-kept garden that attracts a wide variety of beautiful birds, butterflies, bats, squirrels and the occasional monkey. The house itself is light and airy, I never really needed to turn on the air-conditioning, and has two large double bedrooms (one en-suite) and a smaller bedroom with two single beds. The living room is spacious with a large indoor pond with fish, which is a really nice feature of the house. The kitchen and dining area are also spacious and look out over the paddy fields. The house has a second family bathroom and a washing machine. Both bathrooms have a shower, toilet, bidet and basin and come with a hair dryer. The kitchen is also well equipped with a fridge / freezer, hob, oven, microwave, kettle and a wide range of pots, pans, dishes, glasses, etc. The veranda all around the house is lovely and it's a true pleasure relaxing in one of the chairs at the back of the house overlooking the paddy fields, especially if you're a bird lover because it's a treasure trove of beautiful birds! It was also a pleasure to watch the annual cycle of the paddy fields from sowing to harvesting. The house has all modern comforts, including WiFi, good mobile telephone reception and a safe-deposit box in the wall inside the wardrobe of the master bedroom, albeit that I never used it because I felt absolutely safe at the villa. Gunna the housekeeper is extremely friendly and the owner's family live next door and are also extremely friendly and always willing to help out and assist.Especially when you're trying to learn the local language! I used Victor, their recommended tuk-tuk driver, for most of my time at the villa. The house is situated on the outskirts of Hikkaduwa, it's about 700 yards from the nearest beach and about 1.5 miles to town. This is actually really nice because the house is in a very quite location, without the hustle and bustle of the busy tourist season and the weekend nightlife whilst you can still reach Hikkaduwa beach and town in about 10 minutes on foot. Supermarkets and weekly markets for fruit, vegetables and fish are close by and day trips to Galle, Hikkaduwa turtle sanctuary, and several other tourist attractions are easy to organise. It's also very easy to get to other places because the house is also within easy reach of the Southern Expressway (the Baddegama entry). I took advantage of this for day trips to Uda Walawe National Park, Bundala National Park, Sinharadja Rain Forest, etc. I also spent several weekends away at Yala National Park and Wilpattu National Park leaving the house (and my dogs) in the capable hands of Gunna the housekeeper. Nothing was ever stolen, I always came back to a perfectly cleaned and pleasant home. Gunna also prepared dinner for me and otherwise, if you don't want to cook yourself, there are many good restaurants and take-aways in the immediate vicinity of the house. The area around the house is also perfect for running and cycling, both of which I did a lot during my time at the villa. All in all, the villa offers quiet and peaceful day-to-day life in a beautiful setting at a lovely location close to beach and town without the hustle and bustle. When I return to Sri Lanka in the future I will definitely stay here again! …

Our stay at Serenity Villa was perfect from start to finish. We met the lovely Visaka and her staff Mary and Danesh. We were looked after to a five star service. Breakfast, Lunch, & dinner. Great variety and perfectly served. The Villa is exceptional, comfortable, Air conditioned, very classy. A beautiful pool and gardens. Visaka was the perfect host, we only had to ask and she would sort everything out, glad to say we have become good friends and will be back next year for an even longer stay. Cannot recommend highly enough. …
The Retreat at Blue Lagoon, Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka
Great location and facilities.
The location was amazing - on a secluded lake with amazing birds and small animals living in a garden paradise. The pool was continually used for long periods followed by drying off in the sun.
Transport was available with a great team with either tuktuc , car or van as per the particular requirement.
Food cooked by our local host was just amazing and catered for our varied groups requirements 100%. …
Spacious Two Bed Apartment near Galle City.
A most pleasant stay
We stayed in the flat for two months and found the accomodation to be comfortable with all the facilities exceeding our expectations. The host and his wife were most welcoming and throughout our stay brought us local foods to try and enjoy. I wholly recommend a visit to the area and a stay in this flat. …
