“Spacious Modern Apartment - Close to everything you need” This is our second stay at the Emperor Apartments and once again we had a wonderful time. The owners are great to deal with and nothing is a problem to them. The apartment itself is just great. Modern, Spacious, Clean and Comfortable. You do not need to bring anything other than yourself. The location is second to none with great restaurants next door at the Cinnamon Grand. Also located next door is Crescat which is ideal for shopping as it includes a supermarket and food court everything you need for your stay. We look forward to staying again next year.

“A hidden gem in the south.” What a beautiful property!! We stayed for 4 nights and would have loved to have stayed longer. Asitha, Asela and the grounds staff were always ready to assist. We arrived at 3 am and both men were up to help us with our bags and settle in after a long flight. Breakfast by the pool the next morning had us thinking we were in paradise. Looking across the infinity pool through the palms to the paddy fields while savouring freshly cooked fish curry and string hoppers was truly an exotic experience. The proximity of the villa to both Hikkaduwa (walking) and Galle, just a short tuk tuk ride away, made this an ideal position for rest or activity as we wished.

“A little piece of heaven where you can just relax” Sri Mathie is a wonderful old house that has been lovingly restored by the owners. My room was in the 'new wing' but you'd never know it was an addition. It melded into the original house perfectly. I intended to go to the beach daily, exercise, and get some work done, but the minute I sat down in the planter's chair on the front porch, all those thoughts disappeared and I enjoyed just gazing out at the garden, catching glimpses of monkeys, parrots, chipmunks and of course the geckos! We were greeted with a sweet lassi drink flavored with cardamon and it was delicious. The rest of the meals did not disappoint either. The housekeeper, Suba was very attentive but never intrusive. Her banana bread was delicious and it was the first place I'd stayed in Sri Lanka with really good coffee. For dinner we enjoyed wonderful curries, and pizza from a real pizza oven. There was also a French curd for desert that was out of this world. If you can pull yourself away from the porch, the beach is only a few minutes away and Galle (25 minutes away by tuk tuk) is definitely worth a visit. You can also wander around the property where they grow pepper, avocado (I was given 5 to bring home) coconuts, and cinnamon. If you are looking for a place to relax and just get away from it all, Sri Mathie is wonderful. And if you can't get away completely, there is internet access.

“Fabulous” We were lucky and enjoyed this wonderful oasis of luxury and calm for 16 nights in February 14. The villa itself is well appointed and has everything you could possibly want or need but it is the garden, pool and service that makes this place so special. The views from the garden especially down by the pool and pavilion are fantastic with rice paddy, buffalo, egrets and a myriad of other tropical birds. You feel a million miles away from everything as you are surrounded by swaying palm trees and other tropical plants and flowers. We enjoyed the charming 10 minute walk to the enormous, clean beach that is also fringed by Palm trees and little restaurants, and if you want a bit more nightlife Hikkaduwa is only a short Tuk Tuk ride away. The best food we ate was prepared by Roshan and the team who are always on hand to cook or assist you in any way, even stocking the fridge up with your favourite drinks and preparing the most delicious Sri Lankan breakfasts. We had a couple of barbecues down by the pool which were lovely and very good value. The staff make your stay comfortable without being intrusive and are happy to arrange motorbike hire, meals, Tuk Tuk rides and excursions which takes any stress out of arranging things, they are a really nice, friendly group of young men, who you feel completely safe and comfortable with. We have visited Sri Lanka on numerous occasions and this is definitely our favourite place to stay to date. Tam is so easy to deal with too when booking, which also makes life much easier.
