Great location, close to all the attractions

The location was amazing as all the attractions were nearby. In the heart of Sintra where everything can be approached by foot. The house was fully furnished, and ideal for staying in Sintra for a few days. The view from the house was amazing as we could see the sea and Quinta de Regaleira. Luisa is very helpful and kind. Charming house with pool and privacy

We had a great stay in this beautiful little house with pool. Beautiful garden, lots of flowers, nice terrace to relax. These are two 2-person houses combined: the water mill, and Casa Burro. Since there happened to be no guests in the water mill during our stay, we had the pool and all privacy for ourselves in Casa Burro. Recommended. PS we informed the owner of wasps near the pool. We were not stung, but the wasps were close to us when we were on the pool terrace. The owner told us she would have them removed. If you are allergic to wasp stings, it might be wise to confirm this with the owner. … see more

Excellent Location, Quaint & Charming Accomodation

Enjoyed our 3 day stay in Azenhas do Mar at Vivienda Violante 1. This is a charming property which has tons of character, original features, antique furniture and it just oozes charm. We really liked it. Stayed for 3 nights August 2015... couple with 3 kids (8,10,13). It was perfectly suited to our family needs, 1 double room, 1 room with bunk beds and another pull out bed which if just off the kitchen / hallway but which we easily relocated to the sitting room for the 3 night duration of our stay. Double bedroom is accessed through the room with bunk beds. Has 1 cute bathroom with a bath/shower. Kitchen is small but perfectly equipped to cater for preparing holiday meals .. we eat out for the 3 nights ! Wifi worked perfectly. This property is a landmark building in this town (lots of people stop to take photos of the facade). Its a large original house that is now split into several rental properties. All we're full during out stay and all have separate independent entrances. 1 minute walk from the beach . Balcony enjoys lovely full morning/afternoon sun but its in shade by the time sunset comes around. Nice sea views off the corner of the balcony. Just returned from a stay for a family wedding. From arriving at the airport where the owner, Susana took the time to meet and lead us to the superb villa in Colares where we found lovely restaurants & bars in walking distance. The tram running from the village to Sintra is a must, taking about 45 mins where a Tuk Tuk tour also a must to take in the beautiful sights. Bruno our driver even drove us back to the end of our road stay, what service. We would have no hesitation in returning to Villa Monte da lua, a clean well looked after property was an excellent choice for a fabulous time had by all. … see more

Really enjoyed our stay - highly recommended!

Staying at Manuel’s house was wonderful. Manuel is a very nice host, friendly and delicate. He is always available to help and has a trove of perfect recommendations of things to do/see and restaurants in the area. The breakfast was delicious. We also very much enjoyed the company of Manuel’s dog and Mikolos, the cockatoo. The house and the garden are lovely and unique. Located in a hidden corner of the garden just above a small river, the room is completely independent. It is well decorated and comfortable. The garden is beautiful, full of different varieties of trees and flowers, and fireflies will greet you at night! And there are plenty of small treasures to be discovered in the garden! We did not stay very long but we felt very relaxed and rejuvenated when we left. In terms of location, Colares is an excellent option. It is away from the tourist crowds and allows you to experience local life. It is also close to Lisbon and Sintra, and to several beautiful beaches & lovely small villages to visit like Azenhas do Mar. Highly recommended. You won’t regret it! … see more

Fantastic Relaxing Stay

My wife 2 children and I have just spent a glorious 9 days of peaceful relaxation with fantastic views at Casal Santo Antonio . The Villa is equipped with everything you need .,The décor was very tastefully done and my daughter counted that there were 42 chairs in all ,also WiFi , Dishwasher -Washing machine Tumble Dryer ,American style fridge freezer with ice/water dispenser.James bond style electric shutters which turned the place into a fortress when you went out but also kept the place cool .every thing we needed they had . We spent most of our time around the Swimming Pool (Adults)/ In the Swimming Pool (Kids).The pool has a decked area with loungers and fake grass area with a large table and chairs. The views are stunning looking down the mountainside with the sea in the distance. The are a number of fantastic sandy beaches with rock pools and caves within 5-10 miles . The nearest town is colares aprox 1-2 miles which has restaurant's , small supermarkets with fresh Bread a butchers and deli counter and also cooks rotisserie chicken spicy or plain. The villa is located by driving along a single track winding road up the mountainside into penedo There are 2 café/bars within 100 Meters walk and also a restaurant/shop which we found by chance ,when we saw some locals go through a gate and followed them to a fantastic place which sells and cooks some fantastic fresh local produce at ridiculously cheap prices. You will need to work at communicating if you don't speak Portuguese or Spanish as most of the locals don't speak English ,But they are very helpful loverly people and with a bit of pointing and with the help of a Portuguese phone app we seemed to get on great... We can't find anything bad to say about the place but the following could be an issue for some people The pool wasn't heated but in 30 degrees heat that wasn't an issue for us There is no Air con but the villa was always cool so there was no need for it Wi-Fi (a bit slow but what do you expect half way up a mountain) Expect some close shaves and a bit of reversing when meeting oncoming traffic driving to and from the Villa ,but if you take you time it isn't a problem . All in all we loved the place and would definitely go back. … see more
