The Shepherds Retreat - For those in search of good, old-fashioned romance

Perfect for couples, The Shepherd’s Retreat is reserved for guests over the age of eighteen. And you can escape any time of the year, with the oak underfloor heating keeping the space toasty and warm whatever the weather.

More ‘lodge’ than ‘hut’, this is glamping – but with a bit more than average space! Walk into the wood panelled living space. Decorated in fresh, clean whites and pastel shades with oak accents, it’s a soothing area in which to relax. Here you’ll find an L shaped seating space from which you’ll be able to watch the flat screen tv. A clever fold away dining table and chairs as well as the small, stylish yet functional kitchenette.

To the right, you’ll see a room separator, with hidden hanging space. And a sumptuous king size bed, from which you have the perfect view of the second flatscreen tv, ideal for cuddling up in bed.

And through the door to the left of the kitchenette, you’ll find your ensuite. A lovely large shower, loo and sink with cupboard storage and a heated towel rail to keep soggy towels at bay.

Outside, you’ll find your own dedicated patio space with outdoor seating. And through the hidden door to the left of The Shepherd’s Retreat you’ll find a quirky outdoor bath. Undercover and fenced in for privacy (as well as making it rain-proof!), this is the perfect little hidey hole for bubble baths, long chats and romance.

Please note that your hut has a designated spot for barbecues, and single use BBQ kits are available to purchase.

Jack’s Tuck Shop

All accommodations at Ockeridge Rural Retreats have a basket with goodies from Jack’s Tuck Shop. Fully run by our enterprising teenage son you can opt to purchase the fizzy drinks, water, crisps & chocolate on offer.

Great Shepherd's Hut, immaculate accommodation, great hosts. I can't recommend this place enough. Whitley Court is near by and should be on your destination list.

Why can't I call Elliot / Tiffany (the owner) before booking?

You can exchange contact details with the property owner/manager once your booking is confirmed and you’ve paid in full. Paying and communicating only through our platform allows us to ensure that your booking is covered by our Payment Protection policy.

If you have any questions before booking, you can send the property owner/manager a message via the contact form on their listing. Once you’ve booked, you can discuss the rental and make arrangements for your trip by logging into Manage my booking.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Elliot / Tiffany (the owner) a message.

If Elliot / Tiffany (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
