“Gorgeous, perfect Location and incredible hosts!”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2017

What wonderful place to stay and a perfect location from which to explore! We spent a fantastic week here with friends and family, 10 in all, and we couldn't have been happier with the location, the space, the food and particularly the hosts. This is a large villa with many rooms (some of which we never used there were so many) and all were large and spacious including the bedrooms and they all suited their functions perfectly. Sometimes finding a villa with a large enough kitchen and dining room isn't always possible but at Sogara both were great size and well stocked even though we did most of our dining on the romantic outside terrace facing the beautiful courtyard. The other wonderful thing about Villa Sogara are the hosts. Tomasso and Ella were truly two of the most warm and friendly hosts we have every come across helping us with information, recommendations, directions and any other needs or questions that we could come up with and always available whether it was 8 in the morning or 11 at night. And then there is the food! Ella is truly a very gifted chef and we experienced incredible meals every time she prepared dinner for us. She would prepare Antipasto, two pastas, entree and dessert for each meal and all were incredibly delicious. The other nice thing about the dinners is that they did all the prep, serving and cleaning so those mundane items which I don't like doing while on vacation were taken care of. The last item is the location. We like to do a new city/town everyday so having a location that is central to a lot of places is essential. Sogara puts you very close to Verona, about 20 minutes, which is a magnificent city, but also less than an hour to Mantova (this is an incredible city and an UNESCO heritage site), Lake Garda, Padova, and even Venice, which was about and hour and twenty but an easy straight drive on the Autostrada. We couldn't have been happier with Villa Sogara, its beauty, location and hospitality made it the perfect place for us.

“All around - a fantastic stay!”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2012

We were 13 family members, ranging in ages from 1-70+ and the Villa Sogara provided us all with a truly wonderful week. It is spacious in every way, beautifully furnished, and offers not only the comfortable veranda (where we dined most evenings) but also a lovely spot under a large tree, overlooking the grounds, which most of us used in the mornings and late afternoons and evenings. We all slept very comfortably; a particular advantage were the individual air conditioning units which were very effective and easy to use. The pool (nicely fenced in with lock), laundry facilities and regular cleaning woman were things we greatly appreciated. The property has a rich and long history, so one of the main advantages of staying there for us was to enjoy its architecture and the property in general. Thommaso and Ella were also a bonus, as they were nearby on the property, but never ‘in the way’. They were also very friendly and helpful with tips and advice regarding day trips and the specific questions we had regarding the area. Finally, we thoroughly enjoyed our arrangement to have many of our dinners prepared for us to enjoy at the Villa. With young children and a large group of people, this turned out to be a perfect solution for us, and the meals were outstanding!

“Fabulous---a "once-in-a-lifetime" experience that I would love to repeat every year!!”

Reviewed 12 Jun 2011

Villa Sogara is a beautiful and unique property, a bit outside of the city, but that was just fine with us. Nestled among vineyards, olive trees and winding roads, it was a charming escape into the daily life of the Veneto. Tommaso and Ela are the most charming and down-to-earth inn-keepers/new friends one could ask for, and the view they offered into the villa's and their family's history in the area surpasses anything that could be gained from a history book. Combine Renaissance beauty and elegance with country home comfort and up-to-the minute, modern amemities and conveniences---and you have the ingredients for a perfect home-away-from-home. And then there are the cuckoos that call softly from the treetops all day long.....already plotting my return!

Owner's reply: Hi! Thank you very much for your nice words, it's always a pleasure to host gentle and sensible people like you, not just guests, but new friends! We are glad that you had a good time at Villa Sogara, and remember that our doors are always open for you! Looking forward to seeing you soon, many thanks, and best regards, Ela and Tommaso
