From the owner

Maridiana Alpaca offers two self-catering beautiful stone farmhouses, elegantly refurbished.:

Casa Archi, has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and sleeps comfortably 6 parties. It has an independent garden and a magnificent panoramic view of the Umbrian countryside. Il Casale has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and slips comfortably 5 people. Both houses are decorated with fine antique furniture of the family and are completely furnished with all modern comforts.

Maridiana is located in the Niccone Valley, in the northern part of Umbria, just 10miles from the border with Tuscany. The historical hill towns of Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio and Cortona are all at easy reach. The closest town (3 km) is Umbertide, where guests can find shops, supermarkets, local trattorias, olimpic size public swimming-pool and other attractions.

The houses are located on splendid 100-acre hillside farm which has been the first in Italy in grazing alpacas and angora goats. Today those gentle animals graze freely in the olive groves, pasture lands and the woods surrounding the property. They are beautiful and gentle animals whose natural coloured fibers are used to produce locally high quality garments and blankets that are available for sale in a small in-farm shop. The stay at Maridiana is optimal for families who love nature and culture: children can freely play with the many friendly animals around the farm, while adults can enjoy the unique nature of the Umbria countryside and its richness of art and history.

Maridiana is one of the first vacation rentals (farm holiday), to be established in Umbria: It was established in 1983, when the Berna family decided to leave the congested city of Rome for a more rewarding life in the countryside of Umbria. Today has been recognized as one of the top rated farm stay in Umbria and certified by the Umbria region authority.

The houses are sufficiently private from each other to be rented separately, at the same time close enough for a larger group to take both together. In total, the two houses can accommodate comfortably eleven people.

The Berna family invites you and your family to spend a unique vacation in the Umbrian Country side, the green hearth of Italy!
