Quiet, quaint and authentic one bedroom home in historic "colonica" with thick stone walls, nice and cool in the summer. Not renovated for touristic purposes, this is the real thing. Be a traveler, not a tourist and "live" in Italy in a home that comes with one very very special kitty in residence, so you must be a cat lover!
My quiet beautiful country home is the ideal place for study and contemplation; writers, artists, art historians -come and enjoy a home, not a rental. The countryside here is just too beautiful to describe and my part of the colonica is the ancient Roman Watchtower; here you are surrounded by history - the Sorbello Castle is in view across the valley, Cortona is down the road, as are many small hill towns with Gubbio,Assisi,Perugia, less than 40 minutes away. As I am located on the Tuscan-Umbrian border, you get the best of both worlds for touring.
Casa del Grano is welcoming and well furnished with antiques and period pieces; I am an artist and a sailor. My home is filled with curious objects that I have collected in my travels and original artworks;it is a cozy place for two and includes the loving company of my cat Missy, actually, it is Missy that lives here full time, and she is the true owner.
Enjoy our home while I am away, which is more than half of the year. Please write with any questions, I have more pictures and information. Winter and summer stays of 2-3 months will enjoy substantial discounts- if you love cats and like to putter in the garden! You will have tranquility and peace and quiet here, even though there is another apartment at the far end of the house, it is far enough away that you virtually hear nothing from that end, the colonica is quite large.
Winter time can get cold, I have available a wood burning stove and gas heating. Heating is not included, and heating is costly in Italy, but I am happy to work with you to make it possible for you to stay. It depends on the level of comfort that you are used to how much heating will cost you.
I can send a link to my web brochure for more details and tons of pictures.
Please feel free to write for more information.
ALSO! There is a very spacious and airy 2 bedroom apartment at the other end of the colonica if you need more room, drop me a line and we can discuss it. The farmhouse apartment is very authentic, not quite as cosy as mine, but still, a "real" farmhouse, not done up for tourism. Apart from the bath being a little outdated, it is just fine, the countryside is a perfect location and the sunsets marvelous! You can't beat the rates either, especially on longer stays. This is owned by the estate the house is located on "Sorbello" and I just help out with finding the right kind of clients. I can send plenty of pictures and links to an online brochure for both apartments.
