“A comfortable base for exploring Lewis”

Reviewed 3 Jun 2015

Located on a hillside with a fine view, the bungalow is comfortable and exceedingly well equipped, including wi-fi and a good choice of reading material. The conservatory/dining area was a boon in inclement weather. Surrounded by open machair with a lochan, a crofting village and the coast close by there is plenty good walking around. It is also fairly centrally placed for exploring the rest of Lewis by car.

“Top class holiday accommodation”

Reviewed 3 Jun 2015

A lovely and cosy holiday cottage with all the comfort you need. Every evening we sat in the conservatory to enjoy the magnificent views and beautiful sky's . A friendly welcome awaited us on arrival: a cup of tea with homemade cake, flowers on the table, fresh fruit and salmon in the fridge. Tolsta Chaolais is a pretty and remote village and a very good place to explore Lewis. Not far from the Standing Stones in Calanais and Great Bernera where we cycled to. The scenery is absolutely fantastic. We will definitely go back there. It was our best holiday accommodation during our 4 week's visit to the Hebrides.

“Stunningly beautiful and tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle”

Reviewed 27 Oct 2014

House was beautiful all modern with stunning views over the Land loch and sea loch with lovely pigs down the lane. Lovely welcome by owners who also provided tea on arrival with home baked cakes mmmm. People in village lovely and friendly as well as in the local hotel. If you want to escape for peace and quiet this is the place to go. But avoid the crystal clear blue water in October as its cold. Highly recommend Glenview cottage

“Five star experience”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2014

My husband and I had an absolutely amazing time staying at Glenview Cottage. The welcome and hospitality that we received on arrival was outstanding and way above what was expected. The owners of the property (Rhoda and Neil) were so friendly and genuine when they welcomed us to the cottage and straight away we felt at home. The cottage itself is in a stunning location and we found that we were well placed for exploring and visiting the various places of interest. Walking in the front door, it immediately felt like home. It is decorated and furnished to the highest standard. Everything inside was in immaculate condition and it was very obvious that the owners had put a lot of time, effort and thought into making Glenview a 'home from home' - there was even a good selection of DVD's, iPod docking station and music system. The cottage was of ample size and totally exceeded our expectations. Our only disappointment was that we didn't stay for longer!! We will definitely be back and would not hesitate for a second to recommend Glenview.

“A perfect place in a perfect location.”

Reviewed 1 Jun 2014

Rhoda and Neil met us at Glenview and gave us a warm welcome (including a cake and some delicious salmon) and told us about the the the local sights and ameneties. The cottage is modern, tastefully furnished and very cosy with central heating as well as a stove in the lounge which burns peat and coal which is provided. The cottage has a raised decking area from which the views of the surrounding lochs and hills are breathtaking. Access to the broch, stone circles and wonderful golden beaches is easy and there are walks suited to every taste and ability. We would have no hesitation returning to Glenview..

“5 star cottage...perfect home from home”

Reviewed 12 May 2014

The very moment we were greeted by Rhoda, Neil and Rusti we knew this place was going to be special and we were not disappointed. Rhoda and Neil greeted us with a cuppa and cake and told us everything we needed to know about the area and recommended some places to visit. The cottage is very well equipped and has everything you need. The location is perfect and very central for sightseeing on the islands. It was a pleasure to come back each evening to sit in the conservatory stick on some gaelic music and take in the view. This is a real home from home and our only regret is that we could not spend more time here. We would not hesitate to go back.

“Lovely Cottage in a stunning location”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2014

Glenview cottage was great and the location was beautiful. The cottage was comfortable with all mod cons. The oil fired central heating kept it cosy, or a fire in the multifuel stove was enough to keep the living room and kitchen toasty. We enjoyed sitting in the conservatory in the sun and watching the world go by - mainly just sheep and birds (Grey heron, cormorants, greylag geese, raven, and once a golden eagle). Rhoda the owner lives just a few miles away and was very welcoming and helpful. The Callanish stones and the Broch at Carloway are nearby and both well worth a visit. The cottage is a good base for exploring the rest of the island by car and there are stunning beaches not too far away.

“An amazing holiday home in beautiful surroundings.”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2013

Rhoda & Neil, we feel very fortunate to be among the first people to enjoy your beautiful house as well as your very warm welcome. It is so comfortable and well appointed with absolutely everything you could want - in short a perfect holiday home. We have had a wonderful break exploring the Island and getting to know it's people. Thank you- we will be back!

“Our perfect summer holiday”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2013

A wonderful holiday in an amazing house. We could list all the many superlatives that describe this beautifully renovated property, but the best is that it is a true 'home from home', with everything we have at home.... and then much more! Rhoda's attention to detail is mind-blowing. With the most stunning of situations, it is a great base to explore this most beautiful of islands, or just simply to sit with a book looking out at the view. And Rhoda and Neil's warm welcome and island hospitality is the 'icing on the cake'
