Torre Bertona's Angelus Novus apartment is located in a charming historical building just a 5 minute drive from Todi. With beautiful views of this historical town, it boasts a peaceful location among olive groves, ideal for creative thinking, but is at the same time freeway-close and absolutely convenient for visiting central Italy. The tower (Torre), transformed during the 16th century in a summer residence, belonged for centuries to a noble family who used to spend there the hot season.
The apartment is bright, elegant and finely decorated with great attention to details , and can comfortably accommodate two people. The bedroom can feature both a double king size bed or two twin beds.
You will enjoy the elegant swimming pool, the wide panoramic terrace with its old pergola, ideal for al fresco dining or for reading in a context of quiet and beauty, the nice terraced garden with aromatics and medicinal plants and plenty of roses.
Angelus Novus' location is ideal for visiting all central Italy. Being in a secluded position, but close to the main roads, it's a perfect starting point for touring Umbria, Marche and Tuscany. Also Rome is about 1 hour and 1/2 drive away.
On the ground floor you will find a cool common room and an elegant wellness room with a Jacuzzi hot tub.

The Umbria region
The houses of Torre Bertona are the ideal starting point, either for visiting the artistic town of Umbria and Tuscany as well as the remaining central part of Italy, or for making excursions on foot, horseback and bicycle. These houses are situated in a quiet and peaceful location but not isolated ; a short distance from the main roads, in particular the state road “SS 448 Orvietana” and the freeway “E45 Orte - Cesena” are within reach in little time.
By car, you can also take advantage of the central position of Todi over Umbria's territory. The most beautiful artistic cities are all accessible easily: Perugia, with Umbria's splendid National Gallery is at 35 kilometers; Orvieto, with the magnificent “Duomo” containing the “Giudizio Universale” of Luca Signorelli is at about the same distance; Assisi, homeland of San Francesco, with the impressive Monte Subasio, is at only 40 kilometers; Spoleto, Foligno and Bevagna, each one offering plenty of beauty and authenticity, are all reachable within 30-50 kilometers from the houses.
For those who are prepared to travel farther, Rome is at 120 kilometers and can be reached in one hour and a half, by car as well as directly by train or bus. Firenze, Siena and Ravenna are slightly farther but each of them could be visited in one day.
From Torre Bertona, you can easily reach Todi's main square in few minutes, leaving behind your car in the public parking situated near the town and taking the free panoramic funicular that goes up to the historic center. In Todi, you will enjoy the beauty of a city with thousand years of history, perfectly adapted to the exigencies of international tourism and boasting many high quality restaurants.
In addition, the territory is rich in fascinating sites dating from the Roman as well as the paleochristian periods. Within few kilometers, it is possible to visit excavation digs in the city of Carsulae, the catacombs of Massa Martana and several pretty abbeys (often built on Roman remains) like those of “Santa Maria in Pantano”, “Santi Fidenzio e Terenzio”, “Santa Maria di Viepri” and “San Faustino”.

"Peaceful and classy retreat, good starting point for exploring most of Umbria - Loved it"
We spent two weeks in September in Angelus Novus (with perfect weather) and enjoyed it very much. Ideal location when you want to relax a bit (lovely terrace in front of the app. and nice and clean pool surrounded by a wonderful flower and herb garden) and explore Umbria at the same time. It lies right in the middle between the main Umbrian sightseeing points. Todi is 10 min off, Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto, Spoleto, Lago Trasimeno take 30 to 50 minutes by car. Huge (and nice) supermarket 5 min. off. - You will definitely need a car!!!! (!! beware of speed control - blue or orange boxes - nearly everywhere). The kitchen is pretty small but if you're not planning to prepare a five course meal it's big enough and sufficient equiped. Living room and bed room very cosy. At night it gets a bit chilly (=end of sept.) so everything could get a bit damp from time to time but recovers during the day. Didn't try the jacuzzi.
