This spacious stone barn has four bedrooms (of which one is on the ground floor) being two doubles and two twins. There are two bathrooms; one with a shower cubicle, bidet, toilet etc. on the ground floor and the other with a full size bath and toilet upstairs. It has a large galleried living area with exposed beams, comfortable sofas and chairs and satellite TV. Open plan stairs lead up to the
gallery giving access
to three of the four bedrooms. Down a short flight of stairs from the living area there is a large well equipped kitchen and dining area with tiled worktops, gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and a large American fridge/freezer. The garden which overlooks the village has a terrace with garden furniture and a BBQ.
Le Manoir De St. Marcel is set-up to cater for families with children.
You & your children can expect to meet families with other children.
We provide a safe secluded environment for them to play in, & they are made to feel very welcome.
You can enjoy your privacy. However, Le Manoir attracts an interesting group of families, many with interesting backgrounds. You may find that you wish to share their company.
There is plenty of communal space to meet your fellow guests.
Our local restaurant is just 2 minutes' walk from your front door. It is unusual in that they provided genuine haute cuisine whilst remaining child-friendly.
When you stay at Le Manoir De St. Marcel you can choose between staying in this relaxing country estate, & enjoying the wild life, & sunshine, or exploring the Dordogne valley.
You will find us on the property. Nancy, my wife, & myself - Peter, have owned Le Manoir De St. Marcel for 14 years.
You will find that we are very happy to discuss your itinerary with you.

The Dordogne region
The department of the Dordogne is in the Aquitaine region of south-west France (Le Manoir is approximately 60 miles inland from Bordeaux in an easterly direction). The Dordogne is famous for its wines such as Pecharment and Monbazillac; its food, including duck, foie gras and truffles. Exciting visits include the prehistoric caves at Lascaux and, of course, the Dordogne valley itself with its spectacular scenery and many dramatic and beautiful chateaux.
You will enjoy some of the best sights if you take a canoe down the Dordogne.
The Dordogne area is renowned for its long hot summers, the warm and pleasant weather usually extending from April to late October.
St. Marcel du Perigord
There is just so much to do in summer, it often overwhelms our guests, & they unwind by the swimming pool!
Your first Sunday will often be spent visiting the market at ISSIGEAC, a medieval bastide town which is beautiful in its own right, but with the added attraction of a vibrant Sunday Market.
The kids will love Castelnaud, perched high over the River Dordogne: It offers the them a medieval war museum.
Nearby is my favourite Chateau; Chateau Milandes; The home of Josephine Baker, an American Cabaret artist who adopted a child from each continent. This is where they lived, & the chateau is a museum about her.
There is so much that you will not want to miss! – Where to stop!
You must visit Domme, & Sarlat.
Finally, I nearly forgot! – If you are here in July & August the Marche Nocturnes are good fun.
They are a bit like a mediaeval banquet. – You sit at communal tables & choose food from the many stalls offering cooked local produce.

"A delightful property with delightful hosts in a lovely setting"
We were a family of 6 in a comfortable house set, with others in lovely grounds. We enjoyed the conviviality of the other guests in in the complex, friendship being generated by the generous BBQ Peter & Nancy provide every Sunday. The pool facilities were excellent and enjoyed by all of us. W enjoyed the marches nocturnes in the neighbouring villages where the food and wine were excellent. Peter & Nancy were excellent hosts, there when needed but never intrusive. We are looking forward to going again

"Tranquility in the Dordogne Area"
We have been coming to Le Manoir de St Marcel and staying in La Grange, for 6 years now and really like the place. La Grange is one of five converted agricultural buildings all of which are all unique and have lots of character. It is spacious and well equipped as well as offering a rustic feel. There is a lovely pool and two play barns catering for all ages from toddler to youthful old age- our teenagers love the table tennis. We have used it as a base for lots of great activities such as canoeing along the Dordogne river following the fabulous chateaux further west or just visiting the many sites like caves, vineyards and zip wire places or just visiting the interesting towns and chateaux themselves. The hosts Peter and Nancy are very welcoming, help out as much as they can and even put on seasonal tractor rides for the little ones as well as the regular summer BBQ. A daily baguette / pain au chocolat delivery service is on offer and there's a local restaurant if you don't fancy cooking. The local village markets and food festival are great fun, or you feel like nothing just enjoy the peace. We heartily recommend it as see that is frequented by authors and actors alike ( see website ).
