“Comfy house, wonderful beach hut and glorious walks”

Reviewed 7 Dec 2015

My partner and I stayed at Chestnutt Cottage in October, and we both loved the house, its location, and the beach hut particularly. The house is simply furnished, without the usual rental accommodation fussiness, and well equipped. It has a lovely little private, sunny garden at the rear and a great conservatory which we found ourselves sitting in reading in the mornings. It's really near to the sea-front, pier and nature walks, we totally recommend the chips from the little chippy at the Harbour. The owners, Chris and Judith, are really nice and friendly, and made our stay in Southwold really enjoyable. We hope we get to go back, so we can go and have tea and toast in the beach hut with the sun on our faces.

We are very pleased you enjoyed your short break in Southwold and that you were able to enjoy the beach hut too. Many of our visitors, relish the 20 min walk to the hut from the cottage , and are very pleased to leave the car in Chestnutt Cottage's off road car parking space. We hope to meet you again in 2016.

“Good Value, Great Space, Quiet and Peaceful”

Reviewed 7 Nov 2014

Hope website photos have been updated to do the accommodation justice. 2 generous sized double bedrooms, family bathroom upstairs and shower room off the kitchen. Exceptionally well equipped, all cleaning products included too. If beach front is important to you then you can use the beach hut. Cottage is only 15-20 minute walk from sea front. Many different types of walks available. We are retired couple not used to rambling but even I found the going easy and the wildlife so interesting. Many places of interest to visit nearby. Cottage also has lovely sun room off the kitchen. We were very comfortable and slept so well. Our best holiday in ages.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your holiday and that Chestnutt Cottage more than lived up to your expectations. We were very pleased to meet you both on your arrival , to give you the keys and to show you round the cottage. Southwold is an ideal base for anyone with an interest in wildlife - being near Minsmere RSPB reserve and with the Hen Reedbeds only a mile down the road. I hope you found the maps and walking guides that are on the book shelves in the cottage useful.Thank you very much for taking the time to let others know you has such a good holiday.

“A quiet comfortable rental property.”

Welcomed by the owners. Tasteful decor, clean and comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen. Small private garden. Within easy walking distance of shops and Southwold beach. With the added option of beach hut rental.

“Best cottage we've stayed in in Suffolk - we'll be back!”

Reviewed 14 Dec 2013

Meticulously clean, well-equipped and comfortable (except size of dining table). Good under-cover secure bike parking, with off-road car-parking space too Superb location for us - walking distance into Southwold for pier, shops and harbour, without being trapped by day-visitors' cars in the town when we wanted to go further afield. Location might not suit those who don't want to (or can't) walk very far. We loved the walk from the cottage over the marshes to the harbour and the excellent bird-watching in the area. Good shop, stocking locally-grown veg and daily papers within a couple of hundred yards. Didn't use the beach hut as much as we expected as too much else to do Great cycling in quiet lanes. We will be back ...
