Location description from owner

The England region

The Surrey Hills is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty harbouring some of South East Englands most beautiful and accessible countryside. Expore this special area and discover breathtaking views, open commons, attractive market towns and quaint old villages.

The Surrey Hills stretch across the chalk North Downs that run from Farnham in the west, above Guildford, Dorking and Reigate, to Oxted in the east. The grandeur and beauty of these hills embrace an amazing variety of countryside from rolling chalk downs and flower rich grasslands, to acid heaths and woodlands.

Yet all within easy access of London!

Shere

Guildford is a lovely old market town with cobbled high street, for shopping, a great mix of designer and multiples and lots of little cafes and good restaurants.

Around Guildford there are lots of picturesque villages like Shere & Albuey; Shere is often used for filming (Bridget Jones, The Holiday....) Shere has a really nice cafe - the Dabbling Duck (shabby chic style), good for a light lunch or tea. There's our local pub, William 1V which is probably everyones' idea of what a country pub should be, complete with grumpy landlord! Plus great countryside on our doorstep for walking / biking / riding.

“Highly recommended.”

We had a perfect week in the beginning of December. The secluded cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside and wildlife. Inside, the dwelling is warm, well appointed and has everything you need. Close access to Guildford, Cranleigh and the pretty village of Shere. Peter and Gill were very friendly and helpful indeed. Best value and a wonderful retreat from a hectic work schedule.

“Excellent accommodation in a peaceful location.”

The cabin is situated just inside an area of woodland and is about a two minute walk away from where you park your car in the farm below. When I arrived everything had been made ready for my stay; clean towels etc...and there was even a slice of cake on the table and milk in the fridge. The cabin itself is fairly cool due to being surrounded by trees which was especially nice when I visited in the summer. There are heaters in the kitchen/living room, bedroom and bathroom though if it gets a bit cold. There are plenty of good walks you can go on in the surrounding area some of which have been tailored to start and finish from the farmhouse which is a few minutes walk away from the cabin. The area is very peaceful and is a nice place to go for a weekend away.

“Home away from home”

We are cautious to recommend this cabin to others since we want to keep it a guarded secret! We plan to return as often as Gillian and Peter will allow us & want it to be available as if it were our own! We stayed a week and were very comfortable. The kitchen has all you need to produce hearty meals after a good walk in the gorgeous Surrey countryside. Pictures online suggest space is limited but we did not feel cramped at all. The location of the cabin best suits those who love the outdoors and plan to walk or simply immerse themselves in and around Surrey. Proximity to Guildford, the A25 and the fast A3 is ideal but for overseas travelers, the narrow roads may be intimidating.
