The space
Casa la Vista is located in rural Costa Rica. True to its name, the views of this house are incredible. There is a 180 degree vista which spans the entire general valley of Peréz Zeledón. There is a hot shower, a lightly stocked kitchen, sofas, hammocks, dining table on the deck, reliable wireless internet, and access to the Fruition Center for Holistic Culture and Ecology. Privacy and community meet at Casa la Vista for those travelers who want to get an authentic rural Costa Rican experience.
Meals are available for purchase at the Fruition Center for Holistic Ecology.
The Fruition Center also offers experiential learning opportunities in organic gardening, agro-forestry, community building, ecological design and implementation, natural building and more.
There is a quaint village about a 10 minute walk from Casa la Vista that has many traditional skills to offer visitors ranging from Salsa Dancing lessons to homegrown eggs, cheese, meat and more. Tours to see how sugar is made, witness Costa Rican farm life, have a traditional meal, or horse back riding through the mountains can be organized through the Fruition Center. For the avid hiker, there is a 9 hour hike through the mountains to the beach available as well.
Guest access
The Fruition Center and all it has to offer... a book library, fish ponds, gardens, natural building structures, food forest, community kitchen, passive solar shower, WiFi, and good people. The local village includes kind neighbors (all Costa Rican and Spanish speaking) a traditional sugar cane processing ranch, coffee and banana farms, some small gardens, a corner store, with basic hoe needs, accompanied by our friendly, spanish speaking neighbors. The beach is a bit far for day trips, unless you don't mind the adventurous back country mountain roads. There are rivers near by that make beautiful day trips.
Interaction with guests
The community members, volunteers, and staff members are all friendly and welcoming to guests. The amount of interaction is dependent on the guests preference.
