“This is a great place to stay while you experience the Osa.” In the interest of disclosure I am a friends with Jim and we were among the very first people to stay there. I went with two friends and we all really enjoyed staying at Jim's place on the Osa. We also appreciated having the option of using our own kitchen as opposed to staying at a hotel. The houses are very close to the beach and a short walk to a great bar and restaurant. Lots of Scarlet Macaws and other wildlife are neighbors. One morning we saw howler monkeys lounging in the tress right behind the house. The closest beach is beautiful, wild, and practically deserted most of the time.

Central America holidays

Come visit this part of the world to experience ancient Mayan culture in Belize, world-class scuba diving amongst reefs and shipwrecks in Honduras, and unique culinary traditions everywhere that are neither North nor South American, but combine the best of both. More than anything else, come to Central America for exposure to spectacular natural beauty that you won't find anywhere else in the world. The coral reefs and rainforest ecosystems here are ancient and breathtaking, and the experience offered by some of the waterfalls and volcanoes of Central American National Parks will leave you with amazing memories and photographs. Visit just one of the nations of Central America or plan a longer trip and experience all of them.

Here are a few suggestions of things to see and do:

  • Panama: See the Panama Canal. In operation since 1914, its gravity powered locks and controlled waterways are considered one of the great wonders of the world.
  • Guatemala: Come to Guatemala City and see a legendary ballet performance at the Centro Cultural Miguel Angel Asturias National Theatre.
  • Belize: Go cave tubing. Take an inner tube into the spectacular caves of Belize to experience the native plants and animals of the ecosystem, geological formations, and ancient Mayan history.
  • Costa Rica: Take a guided trek through the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve in Costa Rica. Tour the jungle canopy and see unforgettable species of butterflies, reptiles, and hummingbirds.
  • Nicaragua: Visit the ChocoMuseo in Granada and tour the factory and farm to learn about how chocolate is made.

No matter where you go on your visit to Central America, you'll need a place to stay. And it can be easier to find a holiday rental here than you might think, even close to remote forested areas, on isolated islands or near secluded villages. If you want to experience the urban heart of Panama City or Granada, you'll have no trouble finding a stylish apartment or condo rental close to the colourful market hubs, world-class restaurants and shopping districts, or the hottest night spots.

The raccoon for 2 guests with pool and ocean view
Fantastic Holiday

The hosts were very helpful and friendly. The apartment was lovely, a minor point would be that a full length mirror would have been useful. The location was peaceful with easy access to buses, although the local taxis did not seem to know where the apartment was. … see more
Nature lover's paradise!
Peace and tranquillity, surrounded by fabulously exotic wildlife

The use of the word "paradise" in the name of this property is a massive understatement. I simply cannot recommend this place highly enough. And the owner, Jeff, could not have done more to look after and care for us before, during and after our visit. The view from the huge, 180+ degree terrace is breathtaking and provides a fabulous vista into the surrounding treetops, where the wildlife is abundant. Since the terrace is on the upper floor, guests are already at eye-level with the forest canopy and so have a first class view of the many birds, monkeys and other creatures that pass close by. Being at eye-level with the tree tops gives the perfect perspective for watching and photographing the wildlife. The view beyond the immediate canopy is spectacular - a vast, forested valley extends to the distant mountains and ocean. Enjoying an early morning coffee watching the sun rise while the clouds still hang far below in the lower valleys with nothing to hear but the wonderful sound of birdsong is the best possible start to the day. The location of the house is idyllic. Apart from the sound of forest creatures there is total peace and tranquillity. Looking out from the terrace there is virtually no visible sign of human activity. The garden area surrounding the house is very well maintained and is stocked with a vast array of plant and tree types that enhance the exotic feeling. Although most of the garden is on a steep slope, it is readily accessible and walking through it gives the possibility to get a closer look at the plantlife, including the many fruit trees that Jeff cultivates. A gardener sometimes visited and kept the garden nicely maintained. The terrace is where we spent most of our time. It is big enough to easily accommodate a comfortable four piece suite, large coffee table and two hammocks, so there was no need to sit indoors during daylight hours. After dark there was plenty of space to lounge indoors on the comfortable three piece suite, listening to music on the tower speaker (connects via Bluetooth or cable). The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. There were plenty of utensils, pans, etc - we ate in most nights and the kitchen and dining area easily accommodated our needs. The level of cleanliness was excellent, the security measures were perfectly adequate and the appliances were all in good working order. The WiFi was reliable and easily coped with the needs of our party. The pool was very clean and beach towels were provided, which was a nice touch. Jeff is the most fabulous host. Before we booked he was very swift in answering our many queries. Before arrival he supplied a comprehensive information pack containing details of and directions to local waterfalls, beaches, restaurants and nature reserves. After welcoming us to the property his presence was scarcely noticeable - other than the regular deliveries of fresh garden fruit (papaya, bananas, star fruit) that he left out for us. He even introduced me to the local phenomenon that is guanabana. During our stay he immediately responded to the queries we had. He was kind enough to quickly tell us when we had exciting visitors to the garden, such as passing monkeys. Even after we'd left he got in touch to ask for feedback so that he can be of further assistance to future guests. The remote location of the property is something that attracted me to it and although it stands alone, the local resort at Dominical is only a 15 minute drive away and has a small but adequate selection of shops, restaurants and bars. Larger supermarkets can be found at the larger resorts around 40 minutes away. If you're looking for an exotic break in peaceful surroundings with an absolute top host, then I urge you to stay at Nature Lover's Paradise.see more

Loved Costa Rica

We stayed in Jaco at Tres Regalos for 6 weeks. Was a great location about 1.5km north of downtown. Although the beach is not Carribean blue and white sand we enjoyed the warm Pacific waves. The security and staff at Tres Regalos were amazing and made you feel at home especially Eli. The pool area although small was perfect for our needs and was a great meeting place. Johanna was great and accomadating us when we needed to change our dates. She was helpful and friendly. The unit was great 3 bedrooms loved patio table on balcony for meals. The only negatives were being on road side can be a little noisy with people coming and going and somtimes there was a sewer smell in our unit when they were being cleaned out. Could use a couple more lights as well. Perfect holiday would love to go back! Thankssee more
Villa Makai Luxury Vacation Home in Santa Teresa
If you are looking for an amzing place to stay with sunset view this is it!!

We have never visited Costa Rica before but would definitely come back! This house is located on the Pacific Coast a taxi ride or short flight from the capital. We opted for the flight from San Jose on Sansa to Tabor air port (or bus stop as the children called it - with parakeets flying over)!, rather than the 6 hour taxi transfer. It was an amazing experience, landing just past the beach. The house is a really lovely design, with everything you could possibly need. It is open planned on the ground floor, with two large bedrooms and two very generous bathrooms on the first floor - well designed and set out. Outside is a great pool, BBQ and outside seating facing the sunset. The house is set up a hill behind the main artery of Santa Teresa, with shops, bars and restaurants. We ate in lovely restaurants including Italian, Asian, Sushi, Israeli and an artisan bakery. Everyone is very fit and healthy on a diet of fruit juices (so fresh), fish and yoga!! We loved the lemonade with mint leaves. The owners were so friendly and said we could ring them at any time for help or advice. They were brilliant at booking and advising on activities which were suitable for children aged 12 and 15 which everyone could enjoy including: Surf lessons - a must in this area and advice on which beaches to start on. We went every day to a local beach to the north, with acres of sand and lots of rollers! Turns out my husband and son are naturals!!!! The beaches are not crowded, and are beautifully clean! The parking man sold the best ceviche we have ever had!!! Lo lo the surf instructor also had a butterfly farm locally that we visited. Riding on a ranch and local beach with a cowboy and ecologist - a must! The highlight was a private boat trip which included, snorkelling, diving, fishing, lunch and a trip to Tortuga island with white sandy beaches and psalm trees!!!! We even got to see some local sharks (non aggressive) and a wide range of tropical fish! Overall the trip was totally amazing and we would not hesitate to go again to visit more regions of such an amazing country! You do not need to speak Latin American Spanish to visit, but one thing we would recommend is you take the highest factor sun cream you can lay your hands on - we ended up using factor 85!!!!!see more
Casa Cielo Volcano View Retreat, Arenal, Costa Rica
“A little slice of Heaven!”

Casa Cielo was simply incredible! Most beutiful views in Arenal! Casa Cielo had all the modern amenities and a stunning pool with outdoor bar that we could relax after a day full of excursions. Paul and Rosie were gracious hosts that made us feel warm and welcomed. They booked all of our activities for us at a discount and arranged for the transportation to and from our adventures. We especially loved the horseback riding and the ATV ride with views of the volcano. Rosie cooked us delicious breakfasts with fresh fruit platter and homemade juices and coffee at Rosita’s . They also cooked us dinner three nights that included pizza, BBQ , and our favorite pesto pasta and Chicken. We felt like we were eating at a 5 Star restaurant. Paul , Rosie , and their family made us feel right at “Home” and we even wanted to adopt their dog Bernardo! Casa Cielo is truly a special place and Paul and Rosie created a vacation for our family that we will never forget! I highly recommend that you experience Costa Rica at Casa Cielo!see more
Modern Villa with Stunning Views - Sleeps 8
Breath taking!!!

I don’t normally write reviews but we really enjoyed our stay! That terrace at sunset is unbelievable! Having our morning coffee on the terrace and looking the trees, mountain and ocean is amazing! Then going to the beach just a few minutes away through the small village/town and enjoying Playa Grande! No crowds so we truly enjoyed being on the beach! Everyone we meet was so nice. I will be back!see more
