“An all round fantastic experience...we have great memories...”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2012

My partner and I stayed here for a week in July, and count ourselves lucky to have discovered this place. About 8kms from San Gimignano (an easy jaunt in a car, the latter being vital), we felt like we were in the depths of Tuscany surrounded by vines and olive trees, but being hilly, were still afforded a fantastic view of the surrounding countryside. Gianna, the owner, was so friendly and informative - I don't think there is an area in Tuscany she doesn't know well, and it is so easy to get to places like Volterra, Greve in Chianti, Siena, Cortona, Arezzo, etc from the apartment due to it's central location. Gianna offers excellent advice anyway if you need it, and is great company if you manage to track her down for a chat. She loves a good natter about Italian politics and current affairs - we absolutely adored her. The apartment that we stayed in ('The Cipresso) felt so Tuscan, even though it was very new, and had also handy conveniences such as a dishwasher, toaster, kettle, etc at your disposal. Also the place was spotlessly clean both inside and out. We were treated to massive fresh tomatoes straight from the vine, scrumptious homemade apricot jam and bottles of their farm-produced wine, which we nursed all the way home and are keeping for a special occasion. All-in-all a fantastic Tuscan adventure. Loved it. 10/10

“Podere Magione - "a must stay place in the Chianti Hills"”

Reviewed 30 Jun 2012

We stayed for 10 days and the apartment is so comfortable. Large open windows, all screened and shuttered, and doors opening to a very large terrace, looking straight out to San Gimignano. All kitchen amenities are there, and everything is spotlessly clean. There are spectacular views just 100 metres down the road and a good place for walks. The town of Certaldo is close and has a great clothes market on Wednesdays. The owner is very friendly and cooked a beautiful typical Italian 5 course meal for us. There is also a vineyard and we were able to taste the 1st bottles produced, a very nice red wine. A great stay.
