For those with kayaks or even their own boat, the Quay House provides a fantastic base for your holiday where you can step outside your front door and into your boat, moored in the shelter of Roundstone Harbour.
Golden sand and crystal clear water can be found at Gurteen Beach and Dogs Bay, only 2 km away. These beaches are a mecca for swimming and beach combing during the summer months. Climb Errisbeg mountain behind the village and return for O'Dowd's famous seafood chowder, or locally picked mussels prior to a short stroll down the harbour to the luxury of the Quay House.
The owners live nearby and are at hand should you require anything. They are available to meet you on arrival to ensure that you get settled in.
Roundstone's sheer beauty and diversity of marine life brought marine biologist and TV personality, Monty Halls, during the summer of 2010 to Connemara. See Monty's recommendations on Roundstone here (http://www.discoverireland.com/gb/promotions/monty/).
The Western Ireland region
Connemara is world renowned for its stunning scenery. This coastal region has miles of beaches and fantastic walks. This is a great area to explore and is a great base for exploring the rest of the west from Clare to Sligo. Nearby Clifden is a vibrant and cultural town, regarded as the Capital of Connemara. Roundstone is located one hours drive from Galway city and Westport. Check out www.roundstone.ie and www.visitconnemara.com for more information.
Roundstone village is one of the most sought after areas for holidaying in Connemara. During the summer months of July and August many regular visitors return to enjoy the incredible scenery, great village pubs, restaurants and local traditions.
The Roundstone Regatta takes place every July with traditional Galway Hookers and canvas currach oar racing. Traditional music is held on many nights during the week in the 6 village pubs, where some of the finest seafood is served, fresh from the harbour.
Hiking of the local mountain, Errisbeg, is possible right from the front door. Sea fishing as well as game fishing for Atlantic Salmon at Ballynahinch Castle can all be arranged through the owner.

"You will not want to leave this unique and beautiful spot."
We were here with my elderly mother and also our dog, this house worked brilliantly for all our various needs. What a beautiful spot and friendly well functioning holiday house. its clear the owners want people to have everything they may need. A home with a wonderful atmosphere, easy functioning facilities, very comfortable, spacious sleeping rooms with great views to start your day. Roundstone people are very, very friendly; there are terrific eating opportunities moments from the front door; stunning beaches very close, mountain walks nearby; working artists studios to visit;bigger friendly townships very close-by if you need them; great local produce to sample your way through and breath taking landscapes. Or, if you just want to chill out and read, you could easily spend your whole stay plopped in front of the brilliant picture window with a well savored novel and feel like a participant of the tidal changes, weather patterns and fishermen activities. What a treat ! Dean Hills, Germany

"Best place to stay in Connemara"
I have just returned from the most fabulous relaxing week staying at Simons house on the quay in Roundstone. The house is absolutely superb, clean, stylish comfortable with the best views in town of the mountains and sea. Wonderful hosts, amazing views, great village & pubs and I cannot recommend this rental highly enough. Would we return? YES.
