From the owner

Our home is a tall, old town house slotted into the bend of a quiet side street. No two walls are at right angles, so modernising the interior was a challenge. What we haven't done is change the character of the house. What we have done is made it really comfortable, put in four modern en suites/bathrooms and given you a great base for your holiday.

NEW FOR 2022: ***We have used the time in lockdown to significantly upgrade the property. We have fully refurbished the Kitchen, Dining Room, Sitting Room and Main bedroom/suite. We have finished converting what, 200 years ago, was the original kitchen into a lovely dayroom/bedroom looking on to the private courtyard. It retains original features, like the pink marble sink, and large chimney breast. It has a new en-suite WC. We've also put in a brand-new family bathroom with bath and shower. We've opened up the hall so there is space for luggage, bikes, walking equipment and everything else that struggles to find a home on holiday.***

The house is in Prades, an attractive small market town in the south west of France. It is located between the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean and the peaks of the Pyrenees, and has something to offer visitors in all seasons of the year. It's a great base if you enjoy walking, trekking or riding in the valleys and mountains.

We have had some big parties of friends and family here—the house takes 10 easily (12 if you are good friends), but we have also been really comfy as a couple too. There is a large dining room and two very different sitting rooms as well as a private courtyard and roof terrace.

We usually set up a WhatsApp group for you, our house manager and us once your booking is confirmed. That's the best way for us all to stay in touch. Our house manager will meet you on arrival, show you around the house and give you the keys. After that, it's your holiday. Any problems then just WhatsApp the group and we'll sort it out between us.

It certainly is an interesting house! It is, and always will be, a work in progress for us. The kitchen was the very first thing we worked on over ten years ago now. Last year we spent a large amount of money restoring the whole facade of the house, a major job for us. And you are quite right, now the kitchen needs revisiting. Over winter we are replacing the cooker and making sure the equipment is up to scratch for 2014. We're sorry it was difficult for you to cook as you wished. We hope you'll visit again and be impressed by the kitchen facilities.

If Deiniol (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
