“Great property in a great location”
This is a great house in a perfect location. Every detail has been considered and as our daughter is in a wheelchair we appreciated that. The owners went out of their way to reassure us when booking by providing some videos of the house and its location as well as kindly leaving us the non slip bathmat for use when we were there. Small things but very important. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time whilst we were there and would certainly recommend it to anyone. This property is not wheelchair accessible though but as our daughter is small and walks with walking aids it was OK for us, just in case you need a fully accessible house.
Owner's reply: Thank you so much for the review and we are delighted you had such a good time. We know how important ease of access was for you and so were just pleased everything worked out for you all. Hope to see you at 115 again sometime. Lynda & David
“Perfect Place To Relax and Explore”
Superb accommodation in an excellent location. The property is very well equipped and comfortable, obviously looked after and much loved. Although on a shared complex, it felt very secluded with no one overlooking you at the back. Swimming pool was a hit with the children, whilst nearby villages or town of Bayeux provided lots of choice to dine. We had a wonderful time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend 115 to anyone.
Owner's reply: Thank you - we are glad you enjoyed your break and hope you might visit again. As owners we are about to have a short break at the property ourselves, make sure everything is ship-shape, and are looking forward to a glass of wine and watching the world go by:) thank you again. Lynda and David.
“Beautiful Location, with easy access to WWII sites and beaches”
We stayed at 115 for a week in May half term with our 10 and 8 year old sons. Lovely house, the owners have equipped it extremely well. The site is beautiful, the lounge French doors open onto a huge field where the boys enjoyed a game of football in the evenings. The reception staff were helpful, swimming pools clean and warm - boys loved a swim in the outdoor pool after a long day sightseeing (pool dive sticks in the house to borrow!). A very useful information guide in the house that the owners have personally made. We took a lot of tips from that. Plenty of DVDs, books and games to keep adults and kids entertained in the evenings. You can walk into town very easily mainly off road along side the golf course - pretty little fishing village! The house is in great location for the WWII landing beaches, museums, cemeteries - our boys loved Maisy Battery at Grandcamp Maisy and Point du Hoc - lots of exploring for them to do. We got the train from Bayeux to Paris for the day, 2 hrs 20 mins each way - certainly worth a visit if you have a spare day! Although Caen is near, we travelled by Eurotunnel and drove from Calais, about 4 hours drive, but very easy, just make sure you have euros/change for some of the toll roads. A beautiful place, peaceful and very little traffic. A wonderful holiday, we are still talking about it. Certainly recommend this accommodation, the owners were very helpful when we were booking and are happy to answer any questions. Thank you for letting us stay at you lovely house:)
Owner's reply: Many thanks for your kind words, and we are glad you enjoyed your break. We hope to see you again - and tell your friends about us! PS Thank you too for "liking" our Facebook page (more photos and guest reviews and accessible from our website)
“Excellent property ideally located for exploring the d-day landing sites”
We found the property nice and quiet. The house was well equipped with everything we needed and was nice and clean (No smokers and no pets). One of the reasons we chose this property was its central location relative to the d-day landing sites and we were not disappointed. We took our 8 year old grandchild and he made good use of the shared indoor swimming pool. Next time we stay here we will bring our golf clubs (the course looks outstanding and the greens look very fast!) I would suggest some sort of storage for food in the kitchen - we had to keep all ours on the large dinning table.
Owner's reply: Thank you for the positive feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay - the pool(s) are indeed a real bonus. We provide plastic storage boxes to contain food and appreciate your feedback which we will take on board. We look forward to seeing you again, with your golf clubs! Thank you again.
“Excellent stay in Quality Accomodation - Highly recommended”
We enjoyed a lovely week in David and Lynda's 2 bedroom accomodation, which is superbly equipped and set in beautiful grounds. Ideal to use as a base from which to explore Normandy, the beautiful towns, villages, countryside and as we did, the D Day beaches, museums, memorials etc. Bessin is only a short drive or walk and is not busy or over commercialised, neither is the rest of Normandy which is a big bonus too! And everywhere is immaculately kept and very clean! Highly recommended to all for a very enjoyable, peaceful holiday with all the facilities you will need.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your review - we are so pleased you had a good time and hope to see you again.
“Fabulous property with great attention to detail; perfect location; ideal for family with children.”
We took our children aged 6 & 11 years for a short break at the end of the Easter holidays. We used the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry which is a steal at this time of year. Our son, Ben, is studying WW2 this year in history, and having visited the WW1 sites last Easter, we thought he would find the D-Day landing beaches interesting. The house is part of the Pierre Vacance complex ( with swimming pools)and is in a wonderful location on a golf course ( used to film part of Saving Private Ryan). It was quiet being just after the school holidays - but we really enjoyed the peacefulness and had several days when it was warm enough to sit on the patio and walk on the beach. David and Lynda have equipped the house with lots of lovely touches such as historical books; games; DVDs and a wealth of information about the area - so we were not short of things to see and do and embarked on a living history lesson! The house is compact but very comfortable and spotlessly clean and we hope to return again soon to see the things we didn't manage this time. I thoroughly recommend this property.
Owner's reply: Many thanks for your review and we are always happy to assist in educating the children of our guests about WW2 too - however indirectly! hope to see you again. Lynda
“Great Location, Lots to Do!”
The location was brilliant: the property is situated on a beautiful golf course, which you are free to walk around, and the outdoor swimming pool is visible from the property, which backs onto a large field, which is perfect for playing games. Port en Bessin is just 15 minutes walk, and has a few really good restaurants, and other lovely French patisseries, boulangeries etc. In terms of the property itself, it is well equipped and feels very homely, with the décor fitting in well. Even on the day it was raining during our stay... we still kept amused with the selection of DVD's and board games which were in the property. Overall, it is a really pleasant property, with an excellent location.
“Superbly equipped house in an ideal location for exploring D-day beaches and Bayeux.”
The house is superbly equipped, with surely the most comfortable beds in the whole of France. Facilities on the site are very good and the location is ideal for exploring the D-day beaches and Bayeux, which has been a favourite location of mine for many years. Port-en-Bessin is delightful with a daily fish market, superb patisserie and extensive range of restaurants. The Sunday morning market is a highlight.
“Our stay was absolutely fantastic”
Our stay was absolutely fantastic. Great location to be able to explore the whole of the Normandy coastline. So close to everything you want to see and al the places you want to visit, particularly all of the World War 2 sites. The house was brilliant in terms of providing us with literally everything we needed. The owners had thought of everything to make people feel as comfortable as possible including recommendations for eating out in the local area which we found especially helpful. ( the Fleur de Sel on the quayside in Port en Bessin being particularly good). The location has something for everybody - from sport (the golf courses the property is located on looked spectacular) sauna and indoor and outdoor pools, history and beautiful French countryside.
“A relaxing, peaceful and extremely interesting short break”
The entire ambience of this short break was one of being able to concentrate on having some relaxing time out with my two teenage children, but with some thought provoking experiences. We particularly enjoyed starting the break with watching ' Saving Private Ryan' and then after that exploring the whole historical area. Coupled in with lovely walks to the village to collect the fresh fish.
