Location description from owner

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

The Turquoise Coast offers a combination of stunning landscapes, great beaches, hidden villages, ancient ruins, busy markets and friendly locals. It can be a place of peace and relaxation or a place for exhilarating adrenalin induced activities. It’s your choice. The coastline is spectacular with pine forests tumbling down to the water’s edge, and the sea is dotted with tiny islands. You won’t want to leave.

Ovacik

Walking from the villa you are spoilt by the number of bars and restaurants offering excellent food at very reasonable prices and the service is always friendly and welcoming. At Hotel Orka, a five minute walk, you can experience a traditional Turkish night with amazing entertainment and a buffet that you will keep going back to again and again. You can also dine in the hotel on the upper terrace and watch the sun set behind the mountain. A perfect end to a perfect day.

Less than five minutes from the villa you will find stables. For approximately £10 per person you can take a leisurely 3 hour round trip through the pine forests to the deserted village of ‘Kaya’ or through mountain paths to the Blue Lagoon at Olu Deniz. Possibly the most photographed beach in Turkey. You don’t have to be an experienced rider...the horses know exactly where they are going and the trips are memorable.

Walking further down the road you reach the livelier resort of Hisaronu where you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining. The vast array of restaurants caters for all tastes whether you are looking for a traditional Turkish meal or other international flavours. We have many favourites and have never been disappointed. The Monday market is not to be missed with fresh products and ‘genuine fakes!’ on offer. Smaller than the vast Tuesday market in Fethiye, you can practice your bartering technique. Bartering is part of the whole experience and is expected. Hisaronu is also the place to book one of the many excursions or activities on offer. For example: the Saklikent Gorge, Tlos, Yakapark, Rhodes by hydrofoil, a jeep safari, quad biking, paragliding, micro lights, white water rafting...the list is endless!

A few minutes down the road by ‘dolmus’ or taxi is ‘Kaya’. It is well worth putting some time aside to have a walk around the deserted village, steeped in history and a sight to see. Located on a hillside, the village was once inhabited by the Greeks, but in the 1920’s was vacated after the War of Independence. You can stroll around the abandoned streets, visit the church at the top of the hill, and then perhaps have a drink and something to eat at one of the rustic cafes at the foot of the village. There is also a well stocked, family run, wine house and some great traditional restaurants.

A bus or taxi ride in the opposite direction takes you to the harbour town of Fethiye. Here you can stroll along the harbour or sit in one of the many bars and quietly watch the world pass by. You can book boat tours to the 12 islands or to the Butterfly Valley or, as we often do, hire a boat for the day and drop anchor in many of the quiet, secluded coves. The scenery is breathtaking. If seafood is your thing, then visit the fish market close to the ‘old quarter’ by the harbour. Take your purchase to one of the local restaurants around the square and they will cook your fish or seafood and serve it with fresh bread and salad for 5 Turkish Lira...that’s a little over £2.00 per head! It’s delicious. The ‘Old quarter’ is an eclectic mix of bazaar style shops selling Turkish tapestries and prints, restaurants and bars...a hidden gem!

“Location , Luxury &[--] Tranquillity”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2012

Tranquillity is the perfect name for this superb Villa there are other Villas in the area but this has the perfect location as none of the other Villas overlook you . It is a genuine 5 min walk up 2 slight hills to the nearest shops , restaurants and bars and only a 10 - 12 min flat walk into Hisaronu which is packed with everything you could possibly need if you dont want to walk you just stroll past the 2 Villas at the back of you walk approx 40 metres and there is a Taxi button you press the button and a Taxi will be with you within 3 - 5 mins ( perfect for my elderly mum ) and saves money on using a mobile to ring a Taxi . When looking to book this Villa we found it very easy to contact the owners unlike others we have tried , this was approx our 10th Villa rental and one of the easiest as any questions we had were quickly answered eg suitability of the Villa & surrounding areas for my mum . The Villa is equipped with everything expected of a 5 star Villa including a cold water dispenser ( you supply the water bottle ) Dishwasher and a large F/freezer outside it has one of the largest pools we have had with a Villa Finally many thanks to the ownes Chris & Viv for sorting our Airport transfers and loking after the details we had a fantastic 2 weeks and would not hesitate in using Tranquillity Villa in the future Best Regards Steve , Lisa , June , Norma , Paul & Lucy

Owner's reply: Thank you for such a lovely detailed review. I'm sure this will be helpful for people new to the area. Many thanks!

“Fabulous!”

We had a wonderful ten nights. The villa is gorgeous and pool huge! My son was in it for hours every day. The pick service available from the hotel was handy and the entertainment at the hotel good. We all had a super time and hope to return next year. The villa's location is perfect as it isn't overlooked and as it is the last villa in the row, noone walks passed.

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to review our villa. I'm glad the pool was a big hit with your son, we've past many a fun hour in it too!

“Perfection”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2011

Everything about this villa is perfect. Without doubt, we have just returned from the best fortnights holiday we have ever had. A big thank you to Viv and Chris Kerr for letting us use your lovely home. They made everything so easy from start to finish. The villa has everything that you could possibly need and we spent many a lazy day relaxing by the BIG pool taking in breathtaking scenery. The maid service was great and the pool cleaned early in the day, so that it did not infringe on any of our fun time. A short stroll up to the main road and you will find many good restaurants, bars and local stores. We didn't find the need to hire a car as the dolmus runs so frequently we always got on one when we needed to. We did however hire a taxi for a couple of trips. Well worth the experience!! This is the second time we have been to Turkey, the first in villa "Tranquility" and it definately won't be the last. We can't wait to come back.

“Heaven on Earth”

Reviewed 18 May 2011

My husband and I spent a week in this villa and had the best holiday ever. The villa was beautiful with everything you needed and we spent many happy hours in and by the pool. There were many facilities within walking distance, shops restaurants, bars etc., so it was not essential to have a car. We did hire one and explored the area and found it very easy to drive around. The complimentary bus from the Hotel to the private beach at Olu Deniz was really helpful and the beach itself was the best we found. The Turkish people in this area are wonderful. We have never known such sincere friendliness and hospitality. We would have been back this year already but had a family holiday booked in Australia and this took all of our leave. I have no doubt though that we will be back there next year. I would have no hesitation whatsover in recommending this villa. It would suit all ages and there is something for everyone.
