DETAILS OF THE EXTERIOR

Villa Constanteras has a totally charming walled and enclosed garden and courtyard. It's a peaceful haven that feels a million miles from the pressures of day to day life.

The delightful courtyard features the private swimming pool, space for cars, a covered and shady seating area, sun loungers and barbeque. Villa Constanteras' feeling of going back in time is completed by an old water well (hole covered with mesh) which sits in the corner and actually looks like it could still be used.

Location description from manager

The Paphos District

Paphos itself (50km) consists of two towns, each with its very own character. Ktima on the cliff (Upper Paphos) and Kato Paphos by the sea (Lower Paphos). One is virtually unchanged over the centuries and thoroughly Cypriot, while the other has expanded over the last decade from a sleepy fishing village and harbour, into a vibrant cosmopolitan resort which is expanding and improving each year.

In Kato Paphos, (in the archaeological park), you will find many fine mosaics and buildings from Greek and Roman periods, plus the Harbour Castle. Close by, is the church of St Paul's Pillar, where the pillar St Paul was tied to can be found. Further down this road are the Tombs of the Kings and Christian Catacombs. Heading East, you can find the route to Cedar Valley and the Troodos Mountains. The route is peppered with many other small but charming villages along the way.

An excellent highway runs to all corners of Cyprus but the old coast road is the most scenic route. A drive along here past various ancient sites such as Aphrodite's Birthplace and Temple, towards Limassol, taking in Curium, is delightful and is littered with the most beautiful views.

There are 3 beautiful golf courses in the area all with an individual style. All are within a 45 minute drive. Due to 340 sunshine days per year, Cyprus does offer many other activities but they are of course, too numerous to mention here.

''We all thought the Villa was wonderful. Full of character, clean, quiet and very comfortable. Location also was great for us. Very quiet at night and a couple of good restaurants and a bar a short stroll away. We have visited Cyprus many times and had seen ‘ Constanteras’ on the Web a year or so ago. We holidayed in Cyprus last year and made a point of visiting Kathikas and the Villa for a quick look! This was a departure from our ‘normal’ choice of a good hotel in a popular resort. We have stayed in Paphos, Limassol and the Fig-Tree Bay areas of Cyprus and I think a hire car is essential at the Villa if the intention is to visit different areas and the sights of Cyprus. The beauty of the location is that one can enjoy the peace and quiet of village life, yet the resorts of Paphos, Latsi and Coral Bay etc are all within easy reach - if you have a car. Incidentally, we used ‘Elephant Hire Car’ and found them to be very good and prompt with delivery of the car to the Villa - and, a decent car!

We would recommend a visit to the Kourion Ancient Monument on the Akrotiri Peninsula (again, a car - or taxi is essential), Latsi beach and the harbour for lunch is a must! Troodos is always an interesting drive - love the winding road from the Ski Centre down to Kathikas!! For a good beer, Aphrodite’s Rock Brewery at Tsada, a short drive from the village towards Paphos, was an afternoon well spent. In Kathikas, Yiannis’ Tavern was excellent value and a lively, night on a Monday, with live performers and music. The Farmyard Restaurant just on the outskirts was also very good value with a huge choice (including Thai and Chinese if you want something different). We found a pier in a secluded beach near Polis, which was great for swimming and fishing. If you have an interest in wildlife and the birds of Cyprus, the beach here also contained many Turtle nests which was fascinating and we also saw a Kingfisher here. A visit to the market in the old part of Paphos is also a good trip. We would also recommend a visit to the local, Vasilikon Winery which has an interesting collection of old wine-associated machinery etc - and the wine it produces is very good also !! -

Very satisfied. Thank you very much for your service! Locally I’m certain that, if we did need anything, a telephone call would be all that was required.''.

Kathikas

The property is situated just 500m (5 minute walk) from the village centre which now offers a good selection of restaurants and tavernas to suit all tastes, 2 bars (with sky TV) and a shop or 2 for groceries. Famous for its vineyards, the village is surrounded by vines and is renowned for the quality of its grapes. Many of the vines have been in the same family for generations. Two very famous wineries open their doors to visitors, so you can enjoy the winemakers craft. The village is also home to a donkey sanctuary and a tourist information centre.

As the village of Kathikas is 600 metres above sea level, it has a good climate in summer with very little humidity. If youre a bit of an amateur anthropologist, then Kathikas is an ideal location in which to observe the traditional Cypriot way of life and to live it yourself. Kathikas central location makes it an ideal base from which to explore such areas as Polis and Latchi, the Baths of Aphrodite, the Akamas Peninsula, the turtle hatchery at Lara Bay, to mention but a few. With a population of 349, the village offers something for everyone.

The village retains and continues to re-instate its old world character whilst encouraging selected new developments. There is no main church, but a small chapel serves the needs of the village. The village square has a small taverna where you can enjoy a cool drink whilst sitting under the trees. For fishing fans, the nearest reservoirs are Evretou and Mavrokolympos, whilst the nearest golf course is at the newly refurbished Tsada (10 minutes) (3 other courses in area also).

“Great Location Very Traditional BEST LANDLORD”

Reviewed 18 Apr 2015

We booked 3 villas for our stay in Kathikas last week. " were modern villas and this one was a traditional villa. it couldn't be better. Old stone villa with lemon trees in the garden etc. But the best part was the landlord. He was wonderful and very hospitable. He had left us more than just the basics for the house. being close to Easter he had left us coloured Easter eggs and Easter special bread he makes wine for his family from his farm and gifted us 2 bottles. he later came back to give us more as gifts to take back with us. The location was great. Pretty walks through the village. There are a few nature trails around as well. 15 min drive to Latsi beach and 20 min to coral bay and paphos. It was lovely. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful and memorable experience.

“Beautiful villa”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2014

We had a great holiday in this villa. Inside is traditional yet comfortable and with modern conveniences, outside is a lovely, large courtyard with plenty of seating and the swimming pool. The owner was very helpful - he met us in the village to take us to the property himself and he had stocked up with bread, milk, butter, cereal, eggs, cheese, ham plus wine and the usual tea and coffee! It was a nice touch which is also very useful when you have just arrived in the country. I would definitely stay here again.
