The large private garden for your exclusive use overlooks the village of Gaiole in Chianti. There is a covered pergola and decking area to keep you cool on the hot sunny days, it is perfect for leisurely “al fresco” dining, there is also a traditional terracotta barbecue.
The apartment is on the ground floor as you enter the Borgo, private and self contained around 60sq meters with the traditional chestnut beams and terracotta floors. There is a spacious bedroom with French doors leading to the garden, a bathroom with shower, living room with sofa bed and a fully equipped kitchen with French doors leading into the garden.
Just a short walk into the village and you can experience the Tuscan life and make friends with the locals over an espresso and pastry on a morning and join in a glass of Chianti at lunch & evening time.
Surrounded by the famous rolling hills covered with vineyards and olive groves, which give the name to some of the most prestigious Chianti wine is Borgo di Gaiole.

We stayed here for 3 weeks and found this location very central to the entire Chianti region. Heaps to do and see, great accommodation, the unit was extremely well appointed and the pool was a "God-send" especially when temperatures exceeded 45 deg C. Mosquitoes made their unwelcome presence known, their numbers may however diminish as the family of frogs in the garden increases over time. Underground parking was great too helping the car to stay cool. We really appreciated the extent of information available in the compendium which included clear instructuctions on how best to get to various places such as Siena and Firenze. We have to also endorse John's favourite restaurant, Ristorante Il Celliere a Castagnoli. Superb doesn't begin to describe our experience there!!! The locals of Gaiole In Chianti made us feel welcome, especially "Papa" at Tutte Birra. Thanks to John and Tracy for your hospitality.

Apartment - Gaiole in Chianti This apartment is located in a small traditional Tuscan village, right in the heart of Chianti country. The village is surrounded by vineyards on all sides, so you have no excuse not to sample the world famous Chianti wine. We visited a number of wineries over the course of our two week stay and learnt a great deal about wine production, we even ordered a number of cases to be sent home. The apartment itself is located on the upper slopes of the village, in Borgo Di Gaiole. The views from the garden over the surrounding countryside are fantastic. A real joy to sit outside just enjoying the view. John & Tracy ( owners ) use this apartment on a regular basis, so every conceivable home comfort / kitchen utensil is available for guests to use, including a good wi-fi service. The garden has a great tradition BBQ which we used on a number of occasions. The local butcher in the village sold us some amazing T-Bone steaks and it was a real pleasure to sit in the garden drinking the local wine and eating the local food. The village itself has 3 restaurants which provide good quality food, however depending on your budget, if you want outstanding cuisine, within a short drive are a number of fine dining restaurants which we would highly recommend. John provided full details of all the local restaurants plus endless other hints and tips. In our opinion you will need a hire car if you want to explore and experience the local area’s natural beauty. The drive from Pisa Airport is approx 2 hours and a mixture of motorway and local roads. All fairly easy if you are a confident driver with the help of Sat Nav. We also visited Siena, which is approx 40 mins drive away. John provided excellent instructions where to park within the city, which was approx 10 mins walk from the centre. If you want to visit Florence, we suggest you drive to Montevarchi and get the train directly into Florence. It’s very cheap ( approx €12 return ) and only takes 35 mins on the fast train ( please remember to get your tickets “authorised” in the machines before you get on the train, both there and on the way back – a strange system but straightforward once you remember ! ). Overall a wonderful holiday and I highly recommend this apartment. John and Tracy could not have been more helpful, providing help and information as and when required. The only small word of caution is the mosquitos, which are quite a pain in the evening’s if sitting outside. We did manage to overcome these, with a “battle plan” consisting of scents / fans and an Electronic Anti - Mosquito Lamp which John provided.

“Beautiful apartment in glorious Gaiole”
We have just returned from a fabulous weeks holiday at john and Tracy's apartment in Gaiole in Chianti. We couldn't have asked for more, the apartment is beautifully maintained with a lovely garden, wonderfully cool rooms and all appliances you need to self cater, which we did as well as sampling the local eateries and hostelries. Gaiole is a peaceful town but there is plenty going on in and around the area. Less than 30 mins to Siena,our favourite city. We have no hesitation in recommending this apartment and aim to be back ourselves soon.

“A Little Corner of Heaven”
This was our fourth visit to Gaiole in Chianti and our third stay in this apartment. The apartment is modern, well furnished and equipped and spotlessly clean. The garden is beautiful and a real bonus. It is a wonderful spot in which to sit and relax when not out enjoying all that this part of Tuscany has to offer. The apartment is close to the pool however not too close that the noise created ( which I have to confess to contributing to) when people are having fun is an issue. The Borgo is a little community. You quickly settle in to the rhythm of life and become part of the place. Gaiole is charming village. It is a great location to relax and unwind. So different to the hot, bustling cities. The local people are friendly and welcoming. If you are a real night owl who likes clubbing and partying this is not the place for you. If, however, you want an antidote to every day life this beautiful rural idyll that offers all that is good about Tuscany is a must.
“Lovely apartment in a great location”
We stayed for a week in John and Tracy's apartment in Gaiole and would have loved to stay for at least one more week! The apartment was very well equipped and had everything we could possibly need during our stay. We particularly liked the garden with the pergola. It was the perfect place to enjoy your breakfast and cup of coffee in the morning while taking in the stunning Tuscan hillside views. We also loved sitting in the garden in the evenings - there's even a gas heater to keep you warm in chilly nights (not that we had many of those...). The barbecue in the garden was also a plus (we had some excellent steaks from the butcher Chini in the village for our barbeque one evening). The location is very convenient as the apartment is just a couple of minutes walk away from the village where you can get your groceries or just relax with a glass of wine at the Enoteca. The village of Gaiole is also a great base for exploring the Chianti region by car as you can pretty much cover the whole area in less than an hour's drive in any direction. The whole process starting from our booking to our stay in Gaiole was immaculately managed by John and Tracy and communication was seamless - I would highly recommend the apartment and will definitely think about going back as soon as possible!
“THE PERFECT CHOICE”
We spent 8 nights here and it really was the perfect choice for us. The bijou apartment is immaculately kept and very comfortable. The outside terrace and garden are a huge bonus; we had breakfast outside every morning in the gazebo, with a gorgeous view of the surrounding countryside. We ate out all the time so did not need to use the kitchen, but had we chosen to, it had everything one could possibly need, and I mean everything! There is a huge beautifully maintained communal pool which we did not use but is good to have. A laundry is situated in the basement of the building and I was able to freshen up our clothes before moving on to the next stage of our holiday which was great. The lady who looks after the apartment also runs the local tourist office, which was most useful, as she booked several restaurants for us and recommended various things to do. Her office is in the centre of the village. The situation, midway between Sienna and Florence, in a pretty village called Gaiole. This meant getting around was easy and nowhere was a “long” drive. There are also numerous lovely hill top villages to visit, along with wine estates and restaurants. Local restaurants were excellent, our favourite being Marlborghetto, just a short drive away to a neighbouring village. We had the fresh pasta simply served with shavings of fresh truffle and good parmesan; I can taste it now, as I write this, followed by the rabbit stew which was delicious, all washed down with a good local Chianti. We would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone.
“The apartment was perfect and the location was great!”
We stayed a week and could have stayed much longer. The apartment is immaculate with everything you could possibly need. It was like working in my own kitchen. It is a short walk into a small, quaint town square surrounded by cafes, delicatessens, wine shops, a small supermarket and an equisite fruit shop. We wandered down each evening for a glass of wine and a pasta. Each day we made a little trip either locally to a vineyard, cafe, castle or local attraction. We took a bus to Siena and drove to Milan, We read books, lounged around the apartment, went swimming in the pool, drank beautiful wine, ate gorgeous food - what could be better?
“Fantastic stay in a beautiful setting”
Have just returned from a week stay in Gaiole in Chianti following l'eroica and everything you hear and read about the region is true - it really is idyllic and a perfect place to relax, visit local villages, cycle or walk around. Siena, which is equally stunning, is also barely 30 minutes away. The apartment is perfectly located with stunning views overlooking the village - it was great to sit out in the private garden in the morning and at sunset and just relax. However this wasn't at the expense of being away from the centre of the village and the amenities - it was not even a 5 minute walk to the deli, butcher etc. (and only 3 minutes to the local takeaway pizza - I timed it!). The apartment itself is very well appointed with seemingly everything thought of - there were even umbrellas that we could use when there was rain one morning. The 'borgo' also has a swimming pool and gym as well as plenty of parking nearby. From the initial booking, John and Tracy made everything very easy and the service was simple and hassle free. - we'd definitely go again!
“Beautifully equipped and an excellent base for a stay in Chianti”
We were delighted with this well-equipped apartment that had everything we needed for a comfortable stay in the heart of Chianti. It is conveniently located just 300 metres from the village centre and has a pretty garden/terrace with stunning views of the village and surrounding countryside. Facilities include a generously-sized shared swimming pool and access in the apartment to wireless. We appreciated the owners' generosity with respect to cooking ingredients. An excellent base for visits to Siena, Radda, and the castles and vineyards of Chianti.
“Cosy retreat in a great village location”
This property makes an excellent base to explore the Siena region or to just relax and chill out. The location is very convenient - the village is a couple of minutes' walk down a (rather steep) hill, where there are a number of good restaurants to choose from, as well as bars, specialist shops and a supermarket. The owners of the property, John and Tracy, obviously really care about the place and have fitted it out beautifully. Everything you could possibly need is provided, and we were particularly impressed by the well-stocked kitchen, which made cooking a pleasure. The apartment was perfectly clean and very well maintained. Communication with the owners before, during and after our stay was excellent. We didn't use the pool in the complex as the weather wasn't quite warm enough, but it was a good size and very clean with a nice terrace overlooking the village for sunbathing. If you're a couple or a solo traveller looking to stay in a village location, we would definitely recommend this place.
