Location description from owner

The Sicily region

Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea; along with surrounding minor islands, it constitutes an autonomous region of Italy (Sicilian Autonomous Region).Sicily is located in the central Mediterranean. It extends from the tip of the Apennine peninsula from which it is separated only by the narrow Strait of Messina, towards the North African coast. Its most prominent landmark is Mount Etna, which is at 3,320 m (10,890 ft) the tallest active volcano in Europe and one of the most active in the world. The island has a typical Mediterranean climate. The earliest archeological evidence of human dwelling on the island dates from 8000 BC. At around 750 BC, Sicily became a Greek colony and for the next 600 years it was the site of the Greek-Punic and Roman-Punic wars, which ended with the Roman destruction of Carthage. After the fall of the Roman Empire in the 5th century AD, Sicily often changed hands, and during the early Middle Ages it was ruled in turn by the Vandals, Ostrogoths, Byzantines, Arabs and Normans. Later on, the Kingdom of Sicily lasted between 1130 and 1816, subordinated to the crowns of Aragon, Spain, the Holy Roman Empire, and finally the Bourbons, as the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. It was united with the rest of Italy in 1860. After the birth of the Italian Republic in 1946, Sicily was given special status as an autonomous region.

Fontane Bianche

Fontane Bianche is a resort zone with shops, markets, pizzerias, bars, chemists and so on. The bathing zone comprises the homonymous fine sand beach and a beautiful reef. The sand beach is partially free and partially equipped with Lidos that supply all kinds of services (restaurants, animation, sports). From here you can easily reach Syracuse and the most famous tourist and cultural locations of the East Sicily. Sicily has a rich and unique culture, especially with regard to the arts, music, literature, cuisine, architecture and language. Sicily also holds importance for archeological and ancient sites such as the Necropolis of Pantalica, the Valley of the Temples and Selinunte. The Sicilian economy is diversified. The agriculture sector is significant with citrus fruits, olives and olive oil, grapes and excellent wine.

“Definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2015

We were 2 adults and 3 older teenagers. The villa was brilliant, the air-con especially welcome. Pool fantastic and large enough to take us all at once. Marcello was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble for him although we didn't have any real issues anyway. The views from the balcony and roof are stunning and the villa itself was very well equiped. All in all a very big YES from our party.

... and a big "GRAZIE" from me for your lovely review, Chris. It has been one more successful season and I'll do my best in order to keep receiving some more positive reviews from my next guests. Thanks for choosing us. I hope you will visit us again !

“Great villa for a family vacation”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2015

This is a great villa for a family vacation. Marcello is charming and attentive and with few additional touches this would be a 5 star villa. Whilst the amenities are mostly excellent (air conditioning, pool, barbecue, garden etc.) there are some that are a little basic (bedding, glasses, cutlery etc.). That said the pictures do not really do the villa justice. It is only a short walk to the seaside at Fontane Bianche and the nearby town of Cassibile caters for all your shopping needs (fresh fruit and veg, cheese, fish, meat etc.). There are a number of good restaurants both locally and at Noto and Siracusa. Beautiful Baroque towns, fabulous food and drink, friendly locals and sunny sandy beaches make this an ideal holiday destination.

Thanks for considering me a charming, attentive host. Thanks for appreciating your stay in our villa but, most of all, thanks for suggesting me where, in your opinion, there should be few touches to be added. My guests' adivice is very important to me and I am very keen on keeping a 5-star standard. Once again thanks for choosing us ! I hope to see you again next year.

“Beautiful and original Italian villa”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2013

I went to Villa Happy Holiday with my family. when we arrived we were overwelmed by the beautiful villa with pool! Enough place to sit there with 7 people, inside there is a great ambiance. Outside enough beds to sunbade and a nice BBQ. Also the owner Marcello delivered great service!

Thanks for the great comments. You have been wonderful guests. We hope to see you in the future.

“Great for 1-2 families”

Reviewed 28 May 2013

The house is exactly as shown in the pictures. Lots of space in downstairs for hanging around and 4 ok-sized bedrooms upstairs. We were 2 families, both with 2 small kids, and we didn't feel too tight. The newly built pool-area is fantastic. You can eat outside by the pool or just enjoy the sun. Situation is good; beach, small shops, bakeries, some restaurants etc. within walking distance, but you'd propably want to have a car for making your life a bit easier, if you want to buy big groceries or explore the whereabouts. And the best of all, the owner is really incredibly friendly. Great hospitality, speaks good english, replies fast to your enquieries, really wants to take care of his guests...could not ask for more in this sense. Based on our experience, I really can recommend the place.

Thanks a lot ! It was nice to find such lovely comments. I will keep doing my best to make my guests’ stay as comfortable as possible. I just find it so gratifying ! I am glad that you enjoyed your holiday and will look forward to seeing you again.
