The surrounding countryside to the north and west is designated as 'An Area of High Landscape Value'. Nearby is the local landmark Castle Hill. On top are the remains of an iron age fort, the fortification banks and ditches are easily recognisable. There is lots to see and do here, Sid's Cafe, Nora Batty's house, Summer Wine Tours, with some supermarkets, independent shops and eateries.
