The Basse-Normandie region

We offer you the ideal base to explore the magic of Normandy. From it's beautiful scenary to its fairytale chateaux. From the pear and cider orchards to the medieval towns with their breathtaking half timbered buildings, markets and squares. Normandy has it all!

The village is situated within easy driving distance of the larger medieval market town of Domfront, which hosts its world renowned Medieval Festival every two years, and its regular weekly market on a Friday. Step back in time and stroll the narrow cobbled streets, passing the half timbered houses and open squares. Relaxing at the restaurants and cafes on your way to enjoying the breathtaking views of Normandy from the ancient castle hilltop ruins.

On your doorstep you will find many beautiful country lanes and pathways suitable for walking and cycling and offering easy access to the loveliest countryside where you can enjoy the area's flora and fauna.

Further afield lie the towns of Flers (28km north) and Alencon (68km east), both of which offer fine architecture, a wide range of shops and weekly markets. While just 30 minutes away is the beautiful spa town of Bagnoles de L'orne famous for its hot water spa and 1930's casino.

Within an hour of the cottage are some of the finest chateaux in France, including the fairytale Chateau d'O. Rated in the AA Essential Guide to Normandy as one of the top 10 places to visit! A bit closer, is the romantic village of Lassay Les Chateau with a selection of chateau to choose from!

And for those who want to explore a bit further afield, you can visit the D-Day landing beaches and museums, The Bayeux Tapestry, Mont St Michel, and Le Mans.

And finally, for the gourmet, some of the world's finest foods are produced in the region along with pear cider produced in the 'pear capital of the world' Mantilly. A diversity of restaurants to suit every taste and pocket you will be spoilt for choice.
