The Brittany region
Brittany is an ideal holiday area , a good climate together with beautiful sandy beaches, attractive towns and peaceful countryside
all contribute to making the region a perfect place to relax.
The long coastline offers dramatic headlands, wild cliffs, island studded bays and beautiful sandy beaches. Inland is equally attractive. Castles, historic towns and ancient megaliths are sprinkled through the gentle hilly countryside. A wide variety of interests are well catered for , including golf, fishing, all sorts of watersports, hiking and cycling. The region is easily accessible from the UK with ferry ports at St Malo , Roscoff or Cherbourg and with Ryanair providing very low cost flights to Dinard.
The apartment is located on the port of Dinan, where you can find some attractive riverside cafes and restaurants serving good traditional French and Breton food, and a good bakery. From the port you can explore the river Rance by self drive boat or take a boat trip to the old citadel port of St. Malo.
You can also get out into the country by the cycle path which runs along the river up to the village of Taden, or going the other way, all the way to Rennes. Ten minutes upstream is the picturesque village of Lehon with its own castle, twelfth century abbey and open air heated swimming pool.
The port is linked to the historic town centre of Dinan by the steep Jerzual hill - about 10 minutes on foot if you're reasonably fit!
The town of DInan has been remarkably well preserved and contains many beautiful old buildings, as well as a medieval castle and impressive stone ramparts with high town gates. The town is proud of its heritage and promotes many activities throughout the year, and with a very good selection of restaurants attracting both locals and visitors alike.
One of the highlights of the DInan calendar is the Fête des Remparts - one of Europe's biggest medieval festivals - which takes place every two years in the third week in July ( the next one takes place July 2016) . Other events include a weekend of live music , jousting on boats on the port, fireworks on July the 14th and a series of free open air jazz concerts during August..

"Excellent holiday property."
The process of booking Les Tisserands was impressive...dealing with Jeremy and Julia was straightforward and friendly. The house was as described online. In fact it was better. Well located by the port of Dinan and very comfortable with everything a couple would need to enjoy a holiday. We appreciated the level of decor with lots of French character. Our grandson visited us for a few days and slept on the sofa bed which he tells us was very comfortable. The garden with lovely views over the port was a big asset. Car parking in Dinan can be difficult but most days we were able to park on the street for free outside the house or in a free car park 50 yards away. Good restaurants and bars are very close by at the port and there are many more in the main part of the town. We had a lovely holiday in Dinan. We know the town well and this is by far the best property we have stayed in. It is well managed by very nice people, perfectly located and very comfortable. We strongly recommend this property to any couple looking for a holiday in Dinan
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the apartment and Dinan , and give a detailed account of your holiday. We're very pleased you enjoyed both during your stay and appreciated the port . It is very satisfying for us to have such positive feedback, and we hope you come back and see us again soon . Jeremy

"Excellent In Dinan"
Lovely charming accommodation, well equipped, with bags of character. Friendly welcome from landlords. Superb peaceful location. Sun trap walled rear garden with gate on to quiet riverside path. Lots of garden furniture for sitting/eating. Parking in the road was sometimes difficult due to lack of space but that was not an issue for us as free parking with other locals was only one minute walk down the riverside path. 2 minute walk to excellent patisserie and riverside restaurants. Or a slow 20 minute steep walk up interesting street with historic buildings to main part of town. Only the lack of a shower in the bathroom prevented me giving it 5 stars.

"Lovely apartment in superb location"
We had a great week in Dinan, the weather was fantastic for the end of September/early October. The apartment was perfect, well equipped and beautifully furnished with a stunning fireplace/log burner in the bedroom. Lovely garden and the stone terrace was the perfect place to enjoy lunch and watch people canoeing on the river and meandering over the packhorse bridge. We enjoyed evening meals in the restaurants along the riverside, there are so many you are spoilt for choice! Lovely walk to Lehon and up into the medieval town of Dinan. We would thoroughly recommend staying at Les Tisserands, perfect for a relaxing holiday. We hope to return next year. Thank you Jeremy & Julia

"Beautiful old world apartment in medieval Dinan"
We would highly recommend the beautiful "Les Tisserands" apartment we stayed in, it is perfectly positioned on the river in the old port of Dinan. Our hosts Jeremy and Julia Stark were very welcoming and friendly. The apartment has everything one would need while exuding old world charm. The lovely garden overlooking the river was a great addition. The surrounding area is dotted with lovely little towns, there are lots of places to visit all within easy reach. There are nice restaurants just a minute walk from the apartment. The centre of the old town of Dinan is just a walk away. Overall a great holiday destination. We would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to anyone!

"Perfect apartment with great location"
The house was in the perfect spot for us, enabling us to forget the car for most of the week. The proximity of the town was what attracted us to book this house for our holiday and we will return. The house is fully equiped with everything one needs for a confortable holiday. It is also exquisitely decorated and in a very quiet street.
