Description from owner

Description

Bayview is a 3 bedroom terraced house overlooking Craignure Bay on the Island of Mull. The house looks out to sea, from the back of the property, from a private garden. Mull has a great variety of wildlife - white tail sea eagles, otters, deer, etc. The house is within walking distance of the ferry terminal (for the Oban ferry).

There is no internet in the house but a BT (chargeable, if not a BT broadband customer) hotspot which can be accessed from the house.

February 2017 update - watched two white tailed sea eagles building their nest beside the road to Duart Castle.

Comments from the visitor's book :-

"Very comfortable stay, spotlessly clean and very well equipped accommodation. Good location, really enjoyed our visit to this beautiful island, we saw a sea eagle fishing at Loch Buie," - June 2016

"This is our second holiday staying in this very comfortable house, clean and tidy with great views from back of the house."

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

The Isle of Mull is the second largest island of the Inner Hebrides, off the west coast of Scotland.

The island has a mountainous core, the highest peak on the island being Ben More, which reaches 966 metres (3,169 ft). The Aros peninsula to the north includes the main town of Tobermory. Other settlements include Salen and Calgary.

Numerous islands lie off the west coast of Mull, including Erraid, Iona and Ulva. Smaller uninhabited islands include the Treshnish Isles and Staffa of Fingal's Cave fame.

Ecotourism became popular from the 1990s and the re-introduction of White-tailed eagles in 2005 became a particular popular attraction via the Forestry Commission hide at the nest site.

Tobermory also has one whisky distillery.

Craignure

Craignure is a village and the main ferry port on the Isle of Mull

The village is located around Craignure Bay, on Mull's east coast. It has a population of roughly 200 people. There is a shop, Post Office, garage, petrol, Inn, coffe shops and the Isle of Mull Hotel which houses a swimming pool - which is open to the public.

Close to the village is Duart Castle. There is also a Visit Scotland Tourist Information office in Craignure.

“Very clean, comfortable and well equipped accommodation in good location.”

Reviewed 24 Jun 2016

The owners of this accommodation were most welcoming and helpful. They seemed to have thought of everything in equipping the house, which we found to be very clean and comfortable. It was a great location for us as non-drivers, being close to the ferry, main bus routes, pick up point for tours and the Visit Scotland (Tourist Information) office where we hired bikes. Had the weather been inclement we would have used the swimming pool which was only two minutes walk from the house, but as the weather was fine we swam in the bay which can be seen from the back of the house. (Calgary and Laggan Sands were also good for swimming.) Would recommend cycling to Loch Buie - stunning scenery and you might even spot a sea eagle as we did!

Owner's reply: Thanks Helen and Andrew, it was good to meet you and glad to see you enjoyed your stay in Bayview. The weather was good to you to allow sea swimming - your braver then me! Kind regards and Haste ye back! Donald
