The Canary Islands region
Fuerteventura Island Guide
The semi-desert Island of Fuerteventura lies just under 100km off the coast of Africa (near the border of Morocco and Western Sahara). It enjoys a near-perfect climate with average monthly temperatures ranging from 17°C in January to 25°C in August.
Fuerteventura is the longest Island in the archipelago at 98km north to south and the second-largest Canary Island after Tenerife. The unforgiving barren and arid interior of the island shares much with it's African neighbours of Morroco and the Western Sahara including sparse rainfall, rocky-desert landscapes (the temperature of these rocks can reach 67°C on a hot day!) and simple flat-roofed white-washed villages.
Fuerteventura is perhaps most famous for it's beaches, with over 50km of stunning white and golden sand. Despite Tourism being a relatively recent phenomenon on the island, there is a well developed infrastructure with Golf Courses, a Zoo, a Water Park and numerous Marine Excursions. If you fancy something a bit more active, the Island offers great Surfing, Windsurfing and Kite Surfing as well as Big Game Fishing and Diving.
If you just want to take it easy, then those miles of white sandy beaches make the perfect getaway, even in peak season you should be able to find a relatively secluded spot for yourself.
In short, there is plenty for Families, Twenty-somethings and Sports enthusiastes alike.

Corralejo has a small population of around 5000 inhabitants. It offers the best beaches in Europe with a large number of tourist places. You will find a wide variety of people from other countries attracted by the tranquility of our island, water sports and the vacations rental and hotel offers. I wouldn't be bale to explain why but this island will make you relax and disconnect from the outside world. This is a small paradise!
The most characteristic places to visit are our beautiful beaches, volcanic landscapes, sleeping volcanoes, volcanic landscapes, mountain bike trails in motorbike in Quads, the practice of a large number of water sports, baku water park , botanical park, boat trips to Lazarote and Isla de los Lobos. You can also visit museums in nearby villages, golf course "Mirador de los Lobos", and many other interesting places along the island.
The most important festivals in Corralejo and the Canary Islands are our carnivals which are usually held in April.

"Lovely villa with very helpful owner"
Fuertecharter boat trip was highlight of the holiday. Beaches at El Cotillo also feature highly. The owner, Juan Antonio was very accommodating and helpful.

"Overall, I'd class this villa as good value for money."
We stayed over Christmas 2013 and had a lovely time. The villa is approx 15 minute walk to the start of the main town of Corralejo and a 10-15 minute walk to the main Mercadona supermarket. I wouldn't say a car is essential but it is a nice luxury to have the option to use. The villa itself was great. It had all the essential items that you would need for cooking and the BBQ was great. Our contact Juan Antonio was always very helpful and easy to contact if needed. My only minor down point was the lack of English speaking tv stations except for 2 news channels. Hardly a major issue when the sun is shining though. Overall, I'd class this villa as good value for money.
