Very Good

“Amazing apartment in the heart of Florence”

Reviewed 20 May 2018

The apartment is a block away from the Duomo with an incredible view out of every window. It is spacious, decorated in keeping with its history, comfortable, clean and includes every amenity, including laundry. It is 5 storeys up with an elevator. Mario, the owner, is an amazing host. When he realized we were in Lucca the week before, he arranged to meet us at his gallery there for a visit. By the time we arrived at his apartment in Florence, we felt we already knew him. We loved the apartment and only wish we had more time there. We have already recommended it to friends who travel to Italy.

Owner's reply: Dear Marion, I'm proud for your review, thank you so much. It was a pleasure to accompany you and Eleanor to the Bottega Nova for a visit! Should I come to Canada I'll contact you for sure, thanks again, Mario

“Just perfect”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2015

Excellent location, wonderful apartment that was even better than it looked online, caring and attentive owner. We have stayed at many different places over the years and this was truly top notch. The beds were very comfortable, plenty of china/glasses/cutlery, the kitchen well equipped . We highly recommend this locale. The only thing that would make it even more perfect would be a microwave:)

Owner's reply: Dear K., thank you for the excellent review! Also thanks for the advice, given I don't use the microwave I didn't think to it ... thanks again for all, hope to meet you again, Mario

“Outstanding apartment, location and Host!!!!!”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2013

This was our first time renting an apartment when on vacation and we Could not ask for a better experience because of Mario. He met us at the train, clearly explained everything we needed to know about the apartment and the area. His resturant suggestions were great we went to 3 of them and 1 twice we liked it so much. The location is perfect to the sites and the train. Mario I hope your family liked the hats and patches. We hope to see you again. Rich, Kelly, Alexandra and Caroline

Owner's reply: Dear R., thank you so much for your kind present, my sons are still wearing them all the days. Hope to see you again in Florence, all the best, Mario.

“Our favorite memory of our European adventure”

Reviewed 30 May 2013

From the moment we stepped from the train in Florence until we regretfully had to leave this amazing apartment, we felt cared for & surrounded by the best of owners in the best of accommodations. It was as wonderful to just stay in the apartment as it was to walk from this perfect location to all the unforgettable sights in Italy's most lovely city. There is no hype involved in the description of the property - it is as beautiful, tasteful, & well appointed in every room as is shown or described, ... or better. If you want the true Florentine experience, currently & from the long past, find a way to stay here!

Owner's reply: Dear S., thank you so much for your fantastic review, your description matches what really moved me while restoring to the past ages the property. Thank you again, all the best, Mario.

“A room with two excellent views”

Reviewed 5 Feb 2013

As if Florence isn't enough, I would go as far as to say that this luxury apartment is reason in itself to visit this beautiful city. Mario, our gracious landlord, greeted us from the taxi and we could not believe how centrally the apartment was located; literally one block from the Duomo, one block from the Medici Chapel and no more than 10 minutes walk to any prominent place of interest. The apartment was GORGEOUS. We honestly had a moment's worry that we had misinterpreted the cost by a decimal point it was so lovely. The place was a blend of antique furniture and tasteful modern conveniences: comfy beds, fully stocked kitchen, washing machine, plenty of towels, excellent heating, WiFi, and even SKY television and a nice sofa to crash out on after a day's walking. And the history of the's something else. The poetess Corilla Olimpica used to live here, and once Mozart held an informal concert in this very building. It was a well-known hub of the arts back in the day. Mario took the time to recommend to us his personal favourite eateries, having purchased for us a map of the city, and even offered us use of two bicycles (which we didn't end up using as everything was so within walking distance). If you are planning on making use of the excellent kitchen facilities, be sure to hit the food market first thing, as buying food from the Spar store is very expensive and not nearly as fun as perusing all the fresh local produce in the market. Osteria Nuvoli is the nearest eatery (you can see it's small white awning from the front windows of the apartment) and has a "secret" cellar restaurant area downstairs. The food and wine is excellent and reasonably priced, and the ambiance is fantastic. There is no English menu so you'll have to hope that one of the lovely waitstaff has got enough English to talk you through the options! The second nearest eatery is a block down when you take a right out of the building and is called the Red Onion (or translates as such). This is another excellent restaurant and does delicious freshly made pasta dishes. Unless you are planning on hitting a significant number of museums and galleries, I would say that it is not necessary to buy a Florence Card. You will certainly not be making use of the public transportation as it truly is a very compact city. We had such a lovely stay in Florence and it is in great part due to Mario's welcome and his wonderful apartment. We can't recommend this place more highly. Grazie mille, Mario!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much, this is the main reward I was thinking to when hardly was restoring this house. To share is even better than to own.

“No Exageration”

Reviewed 13 Jan 2012

This apartment lived up to it's descriptions. A wonderful location with views of the Duomo or old Florence from every window. The two bedroom, one bathroom apartment, siting and dining rooms made it a very comfortable place to live during a few days in Florence. The kitchen was well equipped. The owner is a more than gracious host who was prepared to go out of his way to make sure we didn't encounter any difficulties. His library of books about Florence and the history of the family and building provided a different perspective of the city. The apartment, as shown in the photos, is beautifully appointed. It was a poseurs to stay here and we hope to repeat it.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for encouraging me to do always better!
