Description from owner
L'Occitanie is situated in the delightful village of Malves-en-Minervois which is about fifteen minutes from the medieval city of Carcassone. The village is surrounded by vineyards with views of the Pyrenees to the West and the Montagne Noire to the East. The village has a chateau, bar and a bustling village shop selling fresh bread and wonderful croissants. The house is surrounded by a high hedge giving it seclusion and privacy, the swimming pool faces south and is surrounded by mature plants. It is an idyllic place for holiday, either lazing round the pool or being more venturous and visiting the many places which are all within an easy car ride. The house is comfortably furnished, all bedrooms have good quality beds and all the linen is provided for your comfort. The kitchen is well equipped with all mod-cons. We are presently installing a new family bathroom, so the property will be even more comfortable for your stay. The french windows in the kitchen open on to a terrace

Location description from owner
The Languedoc-Roussillon region
Malves en Minervois is situated near Carcassonne one of the best preserved walled cities in Europe. Carcassonne is symbolic of the eventful history of Languedoc, walk the cobbled streets and you will find hotels, shops and restaurants. Take time to walk up the path at Lastours to the castles. The area is also rich in vineyards and the countryside truly beautiful with the backdrop of the Pyrenees in the west and the Montagne Noir in the east. Nearby are the smaller towns of Trebes which is next to the Canal du Midi, and Villalier. Trebes is on the Canal-du-Midi where there are a few restaurants.Driving towards the Montagne Noir there is the ancient town Caunes-en-Minervois during the summer months there are concerts at the Abbey. The climate during the summer months usually offers sunny hot days and warm evenings perfect for the outside musical events in the area. If you want the beach the Lac de la Cavayere is nereby, there is a safe sandy beach, especially good for younger children. This area also offers picnic areas with a walk around the lake with Pyrenees as a back drop. This area is lovely whatever the time of year for a walk. Further afield is the mediterranean just over an hours drive, or two hours away is the border with Spain and the Costa Brava beyond. The area is rich with beautiful little villages, restaurants and plenty of choice with sporting activities and lots of areas to explore.
During the summer months there are a wealth of festivals throughout the region. Opera, theatre, pop, rock everywhere the villages and the towns are celebrating. Carcassonne holds the Festival de Carcassonne from June until the end of August. There are always a selection of top international artistes performing at the festival. Also during this time there are free concerts held in the town of Carcassonne. All sports and recreations seem to be catered for. The smaller towns with Abbeys will hold musical soirees, organ recitals some are combined with dining too. I try to leave in the house up-to-date information about the area together with brochures.

- Very Good
“Liked the place so much we've been twice!!!!!”
This is a great property for a couple of families to share and use as a base to explore a beautiful part of France. A good size swimming pool is a big bonus and is well maintained as is the whole property. Most things that you would need for a self catering holiday are provided. Booking was easy and on arrival there was someone to meet you and talk through all you need to know.
