Description

Three cozy cottages, each with its own private patio and shady terraces, set in a large and peaceful, natural style garden. A perfectly easy space in which to live, with comfortable beds and well appointed kitchens, a good desk, and nice furnishings, these houses have a special atmosphere, ideal for people who are seeking a place to relax. No noise, no streetlamps, far from the hustle and bustle and yet just an easy ten minute drive to the quaint fishing village of Alyki with its seafront restaurants and leisurely cafe life, or to a selection of the fine beaches found in this part of the island.

Our seven acre garden estate is bordered by a mix of farmland and wild countryside, well situated for good nature walking and for the more adventurous, cross country scrambling.

Location description from owner

The South Aegean region

The Cyclades comprise about 220 islands, but most of the smaller islands are uninhabited.
The islands are peaks of a submerged mountainous terrain, with the exception of two volcanic islands, Milos and Santorini (Thera).

The significant Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Age Cycladic culture is best known for its schematic, flat idols carved out of the islands' pure white marble centuries before the great Middle Bronze Age ("Minoan") culture arose in Crete, to the south.
The first archaeological excavations of the 1880s were followed by systematic work by the British School at Athens and by Christos Tsountas, who investigated burial sites on several islands in 1898-1899 and coined the term "Cycladic civilization".

Every island has its own individual history and particularities, quite different the one from the other, each with its charm and beauty.
On every major island you find beautiful Museums, Churches and Monasteries, excavation sites and other places of interest. They cover a period from 5000 BC, to early Christian, Byzantine, Venetian and Genovese, also times of corsairs and pirates, Hayreddin Barbarossa - an admiral of the early Ottoman Empire - being the most famous of all.

Alyki

Paros Island is located at almost the exact center of the Aegean Sea, 195 kilometers (121 miles) from Athens, with mild winters - often resembling spring time – and hot summers with a cool breeze from the meltemi winds.

The island is associated with art and culture since the time of the first Cycladic people, whose stylized, geometrical statuary, so strikingly similar to modern art, was created in 2,500 BC.

The "Warrior Poet" Archilochos, born here in 688 BC, wrote the world's first lyric poetry. The beautiful translucent marble from the island's quarries was used in the construction of ancient temples and public buildings in Delphi, Delos, and Athens; and, centuries later, in the tomb of Napoleon.

Today the island is a magnet that draws artists, craftspeople, and writers from all over the world, and with the availability of several internationally recognized venues, like The Apothiki Gallery, and the presence of the Aegean Art Circle and The Aegean Center for the Fine Arts, Paros is firmly established as a focus for both traditional and contemporary art.

But art is far from being its only attraction. There are spectacular beaches, magnificent rock formations, and trekking paths that wind through the mountains and across the island. There is wind-surfing, kite-surfing, scuba diving, sailing, horseback riding, and tennis. Apart from the seminars and classes offered on-site at To the Garden, there are classes throughout the island in yoga, dancing, weaving, and cooking.

“Fantastic”

A place where you feel at home, everything you need is there, well equipped kitchen, tastefully furnished, with a touch for details. The environment is very quite with beautiful gardens and ecologically sound management. Would be even better with a pool.
