“A wonderful experience and highly recommended”

Reviewed 7 May 2015

Villa Selene is a must to add to your places to stay. A wonderful villa surrounded by breath taking scenery, the local cuisine and people only add to the perfect location of the villa. So much to see and do, its a destination we will visit over and over again.

Owner's reply: We are delighted when guests recognise how important our local friends are in making the area such a wonderful place to stay. They really add to the enjoyment of the location

“Lovely Villa and beautiful area”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2013

The villa was lovely, not overlooked at all. Just 10 minutes walk to the nearest village of Gavalochori which had a selection of cafe's with friendly staff. We were made very welcome. The beach at Almirida is safe and clean surrounded by shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend this villa.

“Great value stay in good area of Crete”

Reviewed 3 Jul 2013

Really happy with the quality and cleanliness of the Villa, air conditioning in every room, shower room and bathroom so great for 1 year old we had with us. Pool is good and has significant outdoor area (this is where you spend your time anyway) Would say a car is needed as hilly walk in the heat but taxi's are resanobale under 10 euro from bay to Villa. Almidya is very picturesque and Galvenhory is worth a visit. Also suggest a trip or two to Hania port. Communication from owner has been great and would recommend as superb value for money

“Excellent Holiday”

Reviewed 13 Jun 2013

We stayed at Villa Asteria as a family group, grandparent, parents and grandchildren, or other children and grandchildren stayed at Villa Helios, (same owner). The villas are about 100yards apart and connected by a pathway so it was possible for the grandchildren to move from one to the other without going on the road. As described the villa sleeps 8 in 4 double bedrooms. There is a large patio area and a swimming pool area which has railings around it making it possible to restrict entry by grandchildren without adult supervision. The Villa is well equipped with all necessary equipment etc. About half a mile away ( easy walking distance ) is the village of Gavalachory with a bakery, small general store and three restaurants, known as Monica's and Rosemary's. Although these names are not shown on the actual restaurants. Both provided excellent meals at reasonable costs. For a group of 13 including starters, main courses wine and soft drinks and icecreams for the children total came to about Euros 170. The Beach is at Almyrida about 2 miles away, within walking distance but since it has plenty of free parking it was easier to go by car. Good sandy beach with safe shallow sea.

“Amazing villa, Great for families”

Reviewed 20 May 2013

We stayed in Villa Asteria for a week in May 2013 we are a family of four children 5 and 2. The villa was clean and well equiped with a large pool and patio area which the kids loved playing in. The villa is situated in a large plot of land containing olive trees of which the ownesr produce there own olive oil which was fantastic we took two bottles back with us. The weather in May was good approx 25 degrees which was nice but not too hot for the children. The villa is a few minutes drive from the beach in Almyrida which has shallow water for the children to play in and plenty of space to choose from. Almyrida has lots of taverna's and little bars which all serve fantastic food we can vouch for most of them we got through as many as we could in a week. In summary the villa was a great base for us as a family quiet at night and not overlooked in the day well positioned to explore the surrounding villages and towns. Already planning our next trip!

“Novelty fun on olive picking holiday”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2013

The owners of the villa supply quality Cretan 'Saint Basil' olive oil. They offer working holidays in November to harvest olives from their trees. It was hard work but very enjoyable. The owners provided a good Cretan style workers lunch and we ate out (as a group) at night in a variety of great value restaurants. The weather was warm and pleasant. The villa was fine as accommodation for a working holiday but would come in to its own in the summer as it extends in to a patio / swimming pool area. There are a number of villas on the same plot but they are well spaced and would afford privacy.
