“A haven of warmth, light and comfort in Achill” I was one of a party of eight guests staying at Anne Tyrrell's lovely house which delighted all of us with its clean lines, rich yet restful colours and furnishings and that endless Achill skyline at every window!
The house appealed on all levels, the setting is beautiful and peaceful, brilliant for "getting away from it all", the bedrooms welcoming and comfortable and the two bathrooms, (one en suite) and a Jacuzzi/shower, each with its own toilet, adequately served our party. The kitchen/dining room is great for getting together at meal times and is modern and very well appointed.
My stay there was very happy and I look forward to going again - for longer than three days next time!
“A fantastic place to see Ireland” Just a quick review and a thank you to Kathleen for a wonderful time in Ireland!
Our little family had an incredible time in Oughterard. Kathleen has a gorgeous grey stone house on a beautifully landscaped property with incredible views of lush green fields, low stone walls complete with grazing horses. The house is light and airy, yet cosy and comfortable. Whether you are preparing food in the kitchen, lounging in the stone dining room or relaxing on the sheltered patio, you will find yourself transfixed on the magical view of the manicured yard and beyond.
Oughterard itself is a small but surprisingly bustling town just minutes walking distance. The food from the 4 different restaurants we tried was delicious, and obviously locally sustained. There are 2 groceries and 2 butchers as well for your needs. A gas station and a bank rounds out your needs.
For a larger town experience Galway is just a 20 minute drive away.
The only thing that needs attention was the extremely weak or non-existent internet WiFi.
All-in all we had a great time and will be back for sure!
