“The perfect property for a relaxing holiday with every amenity you could ever want or need.” We stayed at Pontarnaud for one week. We received full details about every aspect of the property before we set out on our travels down to exact location of replacement bulbs,which set high expectations which I am delighted to say the property more than lived up to. We arrived late evening to a wonderful welcome gift that helped us settle in and feel at home on the first night. Every thing you could need was provided down to an excellent selection of books, CDs., indoor and outdoor games. The property although close to 3 other properties was very private with mature hedges and trees as it's boundary. It was very well maintained and decorated with an excellent layout for sharing families even though there was only two of us. The gardens were mature and well kept with the added bonus of a good sized pool. The house was on a side road only 10 minutes drive from the beautiful town of Bramtome which has cafes, restaurants, shops, museums, canoeing on the river. We loved everything about the property, especially it's secluded location but within minutes of Brantome. We will definitely go back and would highly recommend it to either couples or families for their holiday.

“Charming Indeed! A wonderful comfortable home to relax and enjoy the french lifestyle and beauty of Ile de Re.” We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the cottage! After visiting busy London and Paris we were really excited to go to Ile de Re to relax. I had high expectations of the cottage from the photos and reviews and was not disappointed. From the moment we walked in the property we felt like we were home! The owners have thought of everything. The cottage is very tastefully decorated and has all the amenities you need. We loved the front and back garden areas. Perfect for a glass or two of wine and meals. Excellent location, close to the market, restaurants and the beach. We visited the bakery and market each morning to get fresh food for the day, they are just a few minutes away from the cottage and offer delicious selections. We rented bikes for the week and explored the island visiting different beaches and markets. Glenda, the owner, is a pleasure to deal with. She is very helpful provides all the information you need. Thank you Glenda, everything was perfect, we will definitely return!

“A true "Cottage in the Dordogne" experience.” If five star luxury hotels are your travel preference then Les Cerisiers in Monpazier is not for you. If however you seek that true French cottage in the country experience; walking into the village to get the croissants in the morning, restaurants ranging from Michelin recommended gastronomic indulgence, to good basic family affairs through to a quick pizza on the day that you just can't be bothered; a couple of bars for a local vin rouge with a snack and one of the most complete and unadulterated bastide villages in France that still functions as a working town and hasn't been destroyed by the tourist industry and its ugly ephemera, then this is for you. Les Cerisiers is the gatekeeper's cottage attached to the larger Villa Sainte Therese, about a five to ten minute walk from the Monpazier village gates. It is a modernised stone cottage with plenty of space to feel comfortable inside and all the fundamentals to make it homely in a slightly quirky fashion. Wifi connection is good, kitchen set up is complete and the bathroom a bit squeezy but with gallons of hot water. Also there is a washing machine, ironing facilities and an outdoor barbecue. We were there in September and had some unseasonable cool, wet weather but the heating systems kept us comfortable. We managed to eat out on the terrace a couple of times in defiance of the weather, but I'm sure it would be a delight on a balmy summer's evening. The owner, Rosemary Vine makes each new arrival welcome with detailed information about how everything works, where to go to shop and eat and other villages to be visited. There is also a full list of emergency contact details. As one of Les Plus Beaux Villages in France, this is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in all things really French. English is widely spoken but as elsewhere in the country, there is a great appreciation for any attempt to speak in French.
