“Best of both worlds, great location” I stayed at the property with my wife and daughter (17) plus her friend. The property itself is very nice but not luxurious and this was made clear at the time of booking so was totally expected. It was very clean and with a daily maid service included (except Sundays). Whilst it sleeps eight, the living room/kitchen is really only suitable for 5 or 6 max. The owner of the property provides extremely extensive notes to make your stay as comfortable as possible and its definitely worth reading these and taking them with you. We decided not to hire a car but to use the recommended taxi driver/tour guide and found Ravi to be an absolute star who took us all over the island. He also booked speed boats, swimming with dolphins, bbq/ile aux cerf trip etc.. He is very trustworthy and got us a good deal on all of these. His wife also makes excellent curries and deliver them to order. We also made good use of the local hotels, in particular the Luxe Belle Mare which is very nice but fairly pricey. We also use Hotel Ambre, which was equally plush but the buffet dinner wasnt a patch on the Luxe but was nice for lunch and is next door to the house. The Residence was a little bit further along the beach but fantastic and well worth a visit. The house is right on the beach and we had the swimming pool almost to ourselves for two weeks also. It was total relaxation for two weeks and if that's what you are looking for and don't mind paying the prices in the quality hotels you should book. If you are looking for 'nightlife' maybe go somewhere else.

It Captured Our Heart <3 <3 <3

I am a frequent traveller and I frequently rent an appartment in Mauritius during my stay. This time my girlfriend & I spent 10 magical days at Villa Catherine. The place is superb, safe, calm and close to Belle Mare beach. I had a warm "Mauritian like" welcome from the guardian (Mr Roger: Thank you) which we appreciated a lot (never seen at other places we have rented in the past). My congratulations to Eddie and Roger for making the villa such a peaceful and desirable home like place. If you are traveling as a couple or as a family and you like peace, safely, proximity to the beach and beautiful weather of course, then Villa Catherine is just the place for you. We are already planning our next holiday and Villa catherine is where we will stay. It captured our heart last time we stayed there and we surely will stay there everytime we visit Mauritius. Villa Orisha
FABULOUS VILLA ORISHA

We have travelled the world and are fortunate for this. So what I say is in comparison to many places. First, the people of Maritius and its whole are wonderful, warm and welcoming. Villa Orisha was our wonderful welcome to this incredible warm environment. The Villa iteslf is located in heaven (the heavev of seas). We mean gorgeous...right "smack" on the beach..with Shade.....how beatuiful. I could not get enough of the view. The view was from the living room, the patio, the beach area and the master bedroom. Listineing to the waves (mild as they were ) 24/7 was so peaceful. We didn't really want to venture anywhere since it was such a delight (ok, better than delight). The masterbedroom had a full on view of the ocean. The livingroom as well. The incredibly large dining table (behind the living room) also had a view and was perfect for dinners..(romantic,...they always had candles to light....lovely and perfect touch). The kitchen was incredibly well stocked...we didn't take advantage of the cook since we didnt' really speak French well and were not able to communicate about food preferences. . So we primarily cooked for ourselves which was fine since we were jet lagged and woke up at 5:30 am...had breakfast and returned after their hours were done. The house was wonderfully kept!!! (wow...what a treat on vacation) and laundry to boot! I cannot say enough wonderful words about this place...We went as a couple only. The upstairs had two bedrooms. One with a double bed and also looked out on the ocean...with a window that would open wide with its own bathroom. The third with a view on the swimming pool (without heat..it was cold) and also its own bathroom. I think this is a perfect place for a family. If several couples, one would have to have a lottery to see who got to stay at the master bedroom vs other bedrooms.....AGAIN ,,....I was very sad to leave this villa...it was perfection! Oh yes....it was quiet...i mean wonderfully quiet. Birds, ocean, etc. We took a 3 hour walk on the beach (and we could have gone further, this is how incredible this beach is) and we ran into (maybe) 5 people. Swimming was OK....a bit cold for me. Kite surfing was right next door...but we didn't take advantagel. WE did go diving. The lagoon in front of the house was divine (but cold as i mentioned). We would come back. soon if it was not so far away (we live in San francisco and Hawaii.....yet it was worth the long voyage!!). Only one criticism...payment was required through our banks or westeron union. A bit of a pain for us in the US where credit cards or paypal are the norm and easier. However, we realize this is how it is done in Mauritius..but food for thought. Thank you Villa Orisha...for one of my very very best holidays!!!! Life is good. … see more
A Special House on the Beach
A dream house at the edge of a warm lagoon on a tropical island, with a long white sandy beach through the garden gate

Every thing was perfect, it's such a magical place, so quiet and the sea just outside the garden gate. Couldn't believe how fantastic it was when we woke after a bit of jet lag the previous day, to the view from the bedroom window. We had a beach house a bit like this in Barbados about 15 years back, in fact they are similar places in some ways. The acres of sugar cane, tropical plants and birds everywhere, except the food here is much better value. 
Ravi looked after us, taking us shopping and driving us around. We had several massages at the house for only 500 rupees (£10) per hour and there are hobycats and other water sports available just along the beach. Really happy to stay at the house and walk along the beach and into Belle Mare, just swimming and relaxing, either in the sea or in the pool. The day bed for people watching is just as you said it would be. You have to pinch yourself when you wake up from a snooze to make sure your not dreaming. The four of us are quite good cooks and the kitchen is so well equipped that you enjoying eating in. What with the BBQ and fresh fish brought to the door. You couldn't find a better view from either table!  So all in all we had a very relaxing and enjoyable two weeks at your lovely beach house. Really haven't done very much as it is so pleasant, except we did go to the Botanical gardens followed by a nice lunch at a Mauritian restaurant recommended by Ravi. We went to the market in Flacq a few times which is amazaing so full of life and colour, and took several walks to the village of Belle Mare, which has a reasonable Chinese supermarket. We found a nice little bar in the woods on our walk back from Belle Mare - Excellent cold beers and very reasonable.  We walked up the road to a pleasant newly done up restaurant, Seasons, where the owner dropped us back as it started to rain. But, with freshly caught fish on the doorstep, bread and pineapple delivered daily, take away curries supplied by Ravi’s wife and noodles from Mrs Poona, we ate in most nights. You couldn’t find a better view could you and we bought some nice wines at the supermarket. Ouma was so helpful and brought us fresh local fruit and vegetables regulary and told us how to cook them. What a great place to sit and watch the world go by or be as active as you want to be! The people, food and climate are just wonderful; we’d definitely like to go back, but next time when the horse racing is on. … see more
