“Perfect small group farmhouse” The farmhouse has more than enough space for a group of 4, with four floors, and an outside pool area. The pool is great size for a small groups and has a jacuzzi attached to the pool, which is great for when you are in the warm Maltese sun and you need to cool down. The farmhouse is very well equipped, with a good size kitchen. The bedrooms are a good size with air conditioning, you also get a lovely roof area with memorable views of the island. The internet is very fast and the tv is good quality, with 'Go box' that has lots tv series and movies. It is also great for car rental, that I recommend you do for Gozo, with parking less then a minute away from the farmhouse, however the bus stop is a min away too so that's easy too. The Owner was great and is there when ever you need him, anytime ! Overall I can't say a bad word about this charming farmhouse, it was excellent and I would love to go back !

“A perfect, tranquil place to stay for all the family” Having researched several farmhouses and villas on Gozo, we decided to plump for Gharb Villa; we are so glad we did, as from our initial contact with the owner, Juginder, it exceeded our expectations in every way. First of all, we sent an email with a long list of questions about the house, the area etc (yes, we are a very fussy family of 6 and wanted it to tick most, if not all, the boxes!). An email came back very promptly, giving thorough, honest answers. On arrival, we were greeted warmly by Pawla, the housekeeper, and welcomed into the cool interior of the house, which acted as a wonderful contrast to the intense August heat outside. It has very thick walls, which not only keep it cool, but along with the dark, internal wooden shutters and comfy beds, meant a goodnight’s sleep was had by all of us and we were startled by how light it was when we opened the door in the morning and suddenly realised the village had woken up! There is a small farm opposite with sheep and goats, a cockerel, who fortunately can’t tell the time (although even if he could, we wouldn’t have heard it, we slept so well), church bells ringing in the distance and just the blissful sights and sounds of rural village life in the background; a real joy to hear, making you instantly relax and feel you have escaped the rat race, stepping back in time. The house is private, not in any way part of a group or purpose built complex, giving the impression of being detached, although I suspect it isn’t. A well-kept garden surrounds the spacious pool area in which palm trees frame the charming view of Gharb with its dominant church and creamy limestone buildings. There are different levels to the outside area, which means we could drift from one area to another, if seeking shade to read or a bit of space from the rest of the family. The house is well equipped, tastefully furnished and many original features have been kept, such as mangers etc., whilst carefully and, clearly, lovingly restoring it. The house is L shaped, but fairly open plan in design and as there are at least 4 doors to the outside courtyard with its picturesque arches, enabling us to drift from one room/area to the next. Air conditioning was also offered in the bedrooms at an additional cost and was well worth paying for, as it was around 35-40 degrees during the day and dropped very little at night, but we did visit in August; the hottest month of the year. Fans were available throughout the house, but we didn’t find we needed these too much. There again, we spent most of our time outside, enjoying the ambiance around us. A couple of restaurants are in the village, which we could walk to; Rangers, a pizzeria with a terrace upstairs - great to watch the sunset from with beautiful views of Ta’Pinu –and a little further along, Jeffreys, which offered local dishes, pasta etc. There was a supermarket a 5 minute drive away in San Lawrenz , which suited our needs and was close enough for the ice cream not to melt until we got back. Not only was the villa a beautiful, relaxing place to stay, but coupled with the short distances it took to go anywhere, the breath-taking scenic land and seascapes, the very friendly local Gozitians, who left watermelons on our doorstep, and not forgetting the all important welcome pack with some local wine, made sure Gharb Villa was the most perfect place to stay.

“Beautiful accommodation in quiet area - excellent value for mone” 11 friends and I stayed in this lovely property for a week in July 2012. The photos of the villa accurately show how impressive it is, and we found the price very agreeable. The upstairs rooms were warm at night due to the bricks heating up during the day, but a quick email to Mark resulted in 2 additional fans being couriered up to the villa asap, which was hugely appreciated - thank you! The outside dining area was big enough to fit all 12 of us round the table, but as it says in the terms and conditions on www.penmon.net, you need to keep the noise down later at night as there are neighbours. The pool lit up at night is spectacular. The large drinks fridge inside was ideal for keeping drinks cold, and the other kitchen facilities were suitable. I couldn't seem to get hot water from the kitchen tap for washing up but boiling the kettle solved this. Mark has been very helpful throughout the whole booking and stay, and I would be very happy to stay here again. Gozo is a beautiful island, less touristy than Malta, closer to Comino Island for a boat trip, and has the beautiful azure Window a few minutes drive away. Atlantis Dive Centre in Marsalforn was an excellent scuba diving choice, and the 2 dive sites we went to were worthwhile for the interesting topography. The free fast wi-fi was a bonus, rubbish was collected almost every day, the pool cleaner visited without interrupting at least twice in the week, and the clothes washing facilities (washing machine and washing lines on the upstairs patio area) were useful. Make sure you bring your own beach / pool towels. Be aware that there is no dishwasher or air conditioning, but with the fans the temperature was manageable. Thank you Mark for providing a beautiful property which we all really enjoyed! I thoroughly recommend this property.
