“A wonderful way to learn about the art and culture of Spain” Ian and Jacqueline Cockburn were warm and generous hosts at their very luxurious villa in one of Spain's pretty white villages. The food and accommodation were both five star. The course on art and architecture was both enjoyable and informative and the outings were well researched and informative and added greatly to the enjoyment of the week (especially the trips to local bodegas!). I am looking forward to spending another week at Villa Los Buhos as different courses are now on offer.
“A splendid property with magnificent views.” This property offers a great chance for you to get away and totally relax. It is set within its own grounds, you are not overlooked by any other property and has fantastic views of the surrounding countryside wherever you are in the house.
It has high quality but homely furnishings, an excellent well fitted kitchen, and a fabulous master bedroom with its own balcony. The other bedrooms are equally well decorated but spread over the 3 floors, which may not suite families with children, but we discussed this with the owners and they were thinking of changing the configuration of the rooms to accommodate this. Other than in the master bedroom, the en-suite bathrooms only have a shower head attached to the bath. A wall fitting to make it into a overhead shower would have been preferred.
The indoor pool is an excellent choice if like us, you have children. The outside areas are just as impressive as the rest of the house. Several outdoor eating/seating areas all undercover, plus a large sunbathing area with comfortable sun loungers and parasol. The property is set over 3 levels so therefore spacious and as we were staying with extended family, it meant you could always find a quiet place to relax.
The owners provided us with some basic provisions on arrival which was much appreciated and during our stay the gardener brought us peppers, tomatoes and aubergines from the vegetable plot which was a lovely touch.
The village of Gaucin is very charming, with narrow whitewashed streets. There is a number of small but well stocked supermarkets, a pharmacy and a few restaurants. We visited nearby Ronda, a historic town, well worth a visit.
I have only given 4 stars due to the condition of the road leading to the property. It is indeed a dirt track and a 4x4 in my opinion would be essential if you wish to travel freely in and out of the property.
Miren, the owner, was more than accommodating during our stay without being intrusive, she kept us well informed through the booking process, met us in the local village on arrival, she even organised a digger to skim the road surface the day after we arrived to improve the road as we showed some concern.
I would definitely recommend this property for a holiday. Don't let the road put you off, the owners are trying to resurface it but may take a little time, just book an appropriate vehicle. I would hope in the future to revisit and have very fond memories of our stay in this house.

“A beautiful place to relax and enjoy the Spanish culture.” Gaucin is one of the most beautiful little hill towns. We wanted to be located where we could have the time to experience the Spanish culture and be close enough to see some of the important sites.Casa Mosaica was beautiful and in the center of it all. Emma was the most cordial host and provided all the details to get the most of our vacation.
We were able to be in Ronda within fourty five minutes, the coast in half an hour and we even managed a trip to Tangiers with Emma's help.
“Perfect location,” Lovely large House, and when it's very hot it's just right for finding the cool places to sit and chill, with the pool close to hand too and the views up to the castle, makes for a great place to be, with easy access to the village shops and bars etc. Ideal for the more adventurous too, with some fantastic walks through stunning mountain landscapes, this is a photographers dream come true, well worth it..
The property owner (Tony) was very friendly and very helpfull and nothing was a problem..
Will I come back? Yes, but with my big camera.. I also recomend walking the river Genal, Just stunning and full of wildlife and a clean river for swimming! For the evenings there is plenty to do in and around the village or just chilling out by the pool with the red wine!!
We had an amazing time in your beautiful house. Comfortable rooms, tastefully decorated, very elegant. Special mention must go to Diego, who went out of his way to help us with everything we needed. He was our hero on numerous occasions! …
Wonderful home, stunning private pool and walking distance to Gaucín village
Beautiful mountain top retreat
We had such an amazing holiday at Finca Avedin! The house is enormous and is set around a pretty courtyard. All the rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The house has stunning views from all round but for us the most breathtaking was the view of the surrounding mountains from the pool
area. The photos don’t do it justice!
It’s perfectly located just outside Gaucin which is a picturesque village with lovely bars and restaurants and friendly locals. I would highly recommend Finca Avedin to anyone looking for a holiday in Southern Spain. …

Finca – holidays in a romantic tower for our guests
Beautiful location, great hospitality
We stayed for two weeks in July, the finca is 25 minutes from the coast and set in beautiful countryside with wonderful views every way you look.
Peter and Angi were great hosts- even before we arrived they were in contact to ensure they had everything we might need and more.
The Finca is furnished to a high standard and the pools and facilities were excellent.
Overall I would thoroughly recommend- …
Magical Moorish-style apartment in Gaucin village with pool & exotic garden.
Definitely the best place we have ever stayed in
The accomodation was definitely the best we have ever stayed in. The attention to detail throughout was absolutely fantastic and it felt luxurious. The mosaic decoration throughout was stunning. There is nothing that I could fault whatsoever. We used both the garden and the poolside terrace and each of them provided a wonderful relaxing place to sit, eat dinner and drink wine. The cats Geoffrey and Kevin were very friendly and were always pleased to see us.
The village is very picturesque and we enjoyed walking around in the cooler periods of the day. There are some lovely restaurants to eat in and we would often have a glass of wine by the fountain in the evening.
Although it is quite far away, there is a very large Carrefour in Estepona which has the largest fresh fish counter I have ever seen - it's definitey worth going to see it. …
