“'Magnifique'” Had a truly wonderful time, accommodation was excellent. The owners of the property were most helpful in giving us ideas for trips out and giving us advice on local customs etc. Set in a beautiful and peaceful rural setting with lots of wildlife e.g. deer, buzzards etc.
Loads to do within easy reach of the gite e.g. chateau, caves, medieval villages. Lots of history in the area.
Great facilities on site e.g. pool, table tennis, bikes, games. Lovely gardens to sit in.
Would highly recommend this gite to everyone, something for all ages to do there.
An absolutely wonderful stay at Domaine Lebastide in Le Grange. There were 6 of us a family of 2 adults and 2 children with 2 grandparents. The gite itself was lovely with 3 great size rooms (especially mine with en suite). 2 showers and 2 toilets inc. the en suite. Our gite had an outside terrace coming off the main bedroom and a secret table and garden area. Carrine and Neal the owners were always on hand to help with any issues not necessarily to do with the gite but with wanting to book things locally and in our case view properties for sale. There are 3 gites in the immediate site within a lovely courtyard where Carrine and Neal also live. Within the courtyard is a room where you can do your washing and tumble drying putting a couple Euros a time in the pink money pig (latter definitely not needed when it is hot!) and borrow an iron and board (very useful for us as we're en route around France for a month. There also some books you can borrow and other items. On the door of this outhouse there is a long list of weekly activities occurring around the area. Our favourite by far was the Thursday evening food market at Loubjac where you turn up early to get a bench and table. Set yourself up then go off looking for your meal that night. Beautiful meat, salads, escargot (if you fancy it like our 8 year old daughter did!) etc... Les Arques is approx 5 miles away and has a beautiful restaurant called Le Recreation. This is a must! The gite itself had English TV which although we didn't think we'd use was most useful for the times when the kids got up early and needed entertaining! The swimming pool shared by the 3 gites although not heated was warm enough with the beautiful outdoor weather! It was clean and had an alarm set by the last people in it! The garden was lovely and had table tennis and a trampoline and a box of outdoor toys. I would highly recommend this gite or one of the 3 as somewhere to escape modern busy living and to enjoy the tranquil life of the French countryside. My husband a keen cyclist thoroughly enjoyed all the hills the best he's done in ages living in Lincolnshire. Me less so on the occasions he took me out on my bike! We live such a busy life back home in England and this area was just so relaxing! The views from the garden and pool are gorgeous! Enjoy!!!! …
Perfect rural retreat
This was a beautifully converted building set in an idyllic rural location. The charm of the property and location was complimented by the friendliness of our hosts who provided excellent recommendations for eating out and places to explore.
I would definitely recommend Domaine Labastide and consider returning myself. …
A great place to escape the rat race and unwind, explore the beautiful Lot countryside, its lakes woods and cuisine.
We stayed here for the months of February and March 2015. The English speaking hosts live on site. They are very friendly and happy to help you get the most out of your stay, while respecting your privacy. The Gite is comfortable and your hosts are busy upgrading the facilities further. If you stay over the winter be prepared for some cold and damp days, but this shouldn't stop you getting back to nature and exploring the lovey countryside, with its wooded trails and very little traffic on the roads, before coming back to the comfortable gite with English television. There are many "markets near by and those at Cazals (Sunday morning) and Payssac (Friday morning)are worth visiting even in winter. For local cuisine try the Auberge "Poulet au Pot" near Goujounac, especially if you want to try the local duck. The lakes at Frayssinet-le-Gelat, Cassagnes and of course Cazals, are worth a visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and returned to England relaxed and refreshed. …
Lovely place to stay
Wonderful location and so close to Dordogne tourist attractions. Quiet village, nice for evening walks. Got competitive over table tennis (available in the barn), but since I won, it was a success! For a French experience, small village with lots to see if you have a car, I would recommend it. …
