“Great location, fabulous views, lovely villa, lots to do” I stayed at Villa Casa Fontana with a group of girlfriends in sunny October. The villa has been tastefully updated whilst retaining its local character - the view of the lake from my bed was an unforgettable memory along with sipping prosecco on the terrace in the evening watching the twinkling lights on the opposite shore. The kitchen and bathrooms are bright and modern and the sitting room has elegant high ceilings and more fabulous views. We enjoyed some excellent, reasonably priced meals in the local restaurants and like to speculate on who lived in the oppulent neighbouring villas - we knew one was home to George Cloony but unfortunately we didn't catch a glimpse. We did plenty of sightseeing and shopping for chic Italian clothes. The boat trip to Bellagio is a must and we were surprised at how impressive the little talked about city of Como is. There were too many places for us to visit in 3 days so we will definitely be back again. There have been some comments about the climb from the road to the villa - we regarded it as the ideal way to burn off some of the pasta calories - it is the price you pay for the views and to feel that you are experiencing the real Italy rather than in a complex.
