Moulin Neuffons near Monsegur, Gironde France
A tranquil hideaway not far from a bustling town
A beautiful old mill complete with mill-race, mill ponds, and weir. Located a few kilometres from the busy little town of Monsegur and the shops in larger La Reole.
It's a large, airy building with big rooms and high ceilings, all the bedrooms being en-suite. There are numerous areas to sit outside, providing perfect sun bathing or shade as one chooses. There are kayaks and small boats with the necessary life jackets and a plunge pool for cooling off making the whole place an ideal family venue. The owner, Victoria could not be more welcoming and helpful - we loved the fruit and vegetables that she gave us from her garden. There are plenty summertime day and night markets in the local area with night market at Duras being especially lively. Local vineyards and the Minsegur wine cooperative are excellent visits for wine lovers in this area where wines of all types can be found in abundance. Bordeaux, Bergerac and St Emilion are all within an easy days visit. As a family all of whom are adults we had a marvellous holiday with plenty to do and see but with space available to be separate if we wanted. We would definitely return. …
