Very peaceful location but within easy distance from main attractions in the Dordogne.
The house is situated on top of a hill at the end of its own private lane. It has a number of quaint out-buildings and barns. There is a play and covered dining area at the rear which is useful in the hot sun. This overlooks a small vineyard. It feels like you really have got away from it all. It is a large house offering plenty of room. The interior is very traditional and authentic (stone walls, wooden beams, farmhouse table, wood-burning stoves). On really hot days the interior remains cool which is a relief as on some days it reached 40 C. The well equipped kitchen is modern making it easy to keep clean. The property has a dishwasher and a washing machine. The house offers tranquility and comfort within easy reach of the main attractions of the Dordogne. Communication with the owner and local contact person (bilingual) was really excellent. We were lucky enough to be there when a litter of six kittens emerged from one of the barns. Very difficult to say goodbye both the kittens and the house. Truly a beautiful property with modern conveniences (wifi, sky tv). …
A beautifully renovated 4 bedroom barn conversion
We have just returned from a fantastic 2 week stay here. The gite was great and really well equipped especially for a toddler and a 7 month old baby - high chair, travel cot, stair gate, CBeebies channel.... The pool was nice on a hot day and is a great size for young children. The toddler had great fun splashing in it and the 7 month old enjoyed his first swim! The house is in a great location close to all the main attractions - castles like Castelnaud and Beynac, the river for paddling, boat trips and canoeing, an aquarium at Le Bugle, numerous markets and pretty towns and villages like Sarlat, Domme and Belves. The hosts Matthew and Susie were lovely and very welcoming and were on hand to provide local information if needed. All in all a great place and would highly recommend. …
