Casa de Xisto, Charming stone cottage 3 bedrooms, spectacular views, Arganil 7km
It was home from home but with much better views
Jane was very helpful and made us welcome, one day she showed us around the village.
The house was very nice, clean and comfortable and had everything that was needed and
plenty of logs for the fire. The views are breath taking and the fresh oranges from the tree
This was our second time at one of Jane's cottages and both times we enjoyed our stay, we will book again anytime we plan to go there.
Many thanks for making us welcome !!! …
Bela Vista Alqueve, private swimming pool and slate stone house
Magnificent views of mountain ranges and secluded house with pool all to ourselves.
We had a fantastic holiday at 'Bela Vista'. The house is small but the views, pool and outside space more than make up for it. The house has been tastefully renovated and is a merge of modern and rustic with the slate walls on show. The village is lovely and the people very friendly. Restaurants in the area are very good and a lot of choice. The owners are very welcoming and live close by but left us to our holiday. I would highly recommend to anyone. …
Charming 3 bedroom house, pretty view over Rio Alva, Coja, river beach 200m
Great location for walking into Coja, spacious and comfortable
This house is ideal for access to Coja, and is on the road for Barril. Close to the river, it has good views . The small garden and upstairs terrace are lovely sunny areas to sit outside. It is spacious ,with bedrooms both up and down the stairs, and a very large dining area. It is well equipped, and the owner is very happy to help with any concerns. …
Casa da Roda
One of the most beautiful, tranquil locations you could wish for to recharge yourself.
We have stayed at this wonderful property several times now and each time the beauty of the area hits us. The rolling hills and terraced valleys, the scented smells in the fresh air, the stillness and silence. You drive down a well maintained track to the villa where you are warmly met by the owners Geoff and Linn, who spare no effort to make your stay faultless, The first glimpse of the villa, which is set on top of a mature wooded terraced valley that leads down to the lake edge, is beautiful. When you walk into the villa you will find an uncluttered, simply furnished, well stocked and spotlessly clean space. As you walk into the large kitchen area you find a large bowl of fruit sitting on top of a long dining table. At the far end of the kitchen you open double doors that lead onto the veranda and the stunning view of the valley and lake, and again the silence and tranquillity hit you. To wake up in the morning and sit here with your cup of tea, listening to the birds and breathing in the oh so fresh air, is the greatest way to start any day. You will probably be visited as you sit there by Bob and Cleo,,Geoff and Lin's dogs, who come and say hello gently and are more than happy to just sit there with you looking over the view. As you walk round the veranda to the other side you will find the pool/sunbathing area which has full sun for most of the day.
Geoff and Lin have provided tools for enjoyment for your stay, various types of boats for the lake, bikes, fishing rods and pool toys for adults and children!. They are always on hand if you need them as their little house is the other side of the valley although you wouldn't know it as it is well hidden by trees.
We never tire of the scenery with so much wild life and bird song,( I woke one night to the wonderful song of a nightjar), and always find it so hard to leave. There is no way that you cannot feel re-invigorated after your stay here. Our only complaint? That we weren't there for a month! …
Luxury very private villa large pool Coimbra Arganil Tabua sleeps 9 great views
what is there not to like?
We loved everything about Phillipa's house, Quinta do Acor. The location is spot on, private but just half a mile from a riverbeach with a good restaurant and a bar on either side of the river. The town of Arganil is only a ten minute drive away and has a couple of supermarkets as well as cafe's, restaurants, banks etc. Further out are some lovely villages along the river Alva or its not to far to drive out into the mountains for breathtaking views down the valleys. The coast can be reached within an hour where you can watch the traditional Portuguese fishing at Praia de Mira.
The house itself is superb. Its about 200yds off the road along a flat woodland track. Inside the bedrooms are huge with lovely bathrooms and a good size kitchen and sitting room. Double doors lead out to the garden from every room, which is another highlight of the property. help yourself to anything that is ripe, from tomatoes and cucumbers to peaches and nectarines.
The outside area of the house is where you spend most time during your stay and again what is there not to like? this is superb. The pool is large, about 5' deep all the way and is chlorine free. There's a poolside shower room with a toilet, and this adjoins the bar!
A couple of steps down lead to another great area, the outside kitchen with a pizza oven and BBQ.
We booked this great Quinta slightly by accident, not knowing we were going to be flying into Faro, but even with the 5hr drive we were not disappointed when we arrived and are even looking at coming back (disappointed to have to leave a review as we want to keep it a secret really!) …
