“Outstanding” Five stars from us, This wonderful place has every little detail in place, the area is very peaceful and relaxing even with my 3 year old daughter. It's immaculate and close to everything. Tony and Rosie are fabulous hosts and very helpful. a lot of time, effort and money has been put into to this little gem of a place. I would highly recommend to anyone. It's just fantastic (tried looking for fault but theres nothing) it's a 10/10 from us three. age range 3 to 68

“First class!” We've stayed in worse 5 star hotels! The apartment is FANTASTIC! Everything you could wish for and spotlessly clean with two large bedrooms and an amazing balcony with a sea view. Eva and Antonio are very welcoming and have thought of everything that a holiday maker might need to make life easy including a welcome pack full of goodies and beer in the fridge! Antonio is available to sort out any little problem. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Torrox and will be back next year to hopefully stay at the same place that is if you all haven't beaten us to it!

“Lovely apartment in super location” We had a great stay in Paul's beachfront apartment. Everything you could want in an apartment rental. Big bowl of fresh fruit was very welcome. Nice and fresh sheets and towels and comfortable seating. This was very welcome as it was too hot to venture very far on some days. Kitchen had all you could need and the big balcony was ideal for relaxing. A very secure and safe residence with a lift, which was essential as we were on the 6th floor. Would definitely recommend.

“On the roof” We practically lived on the roof of this upper floor apartment which is not overlooked from any direction. The sun shone every day, there are loungers, umbrellas, a barbecue and a shaded dining table. The swimming pools were superb for cooling off in and were practically unused in May. The apartment itself is very comfortable with quality furniture and fittings and a fully fitted kitchen which was fine for every meal we cooked (including a mega paella), There are British TV channels and plenty of reading material to fill the spare moments. There's a good English owned bar just over the main road and a very tidy village/residential area with restaurants and shops immediately behind that and a full sized supermarket within 10 minutes walk. I'm sure that some people could manage without a car because there is a bus route on the main road serving the various towns but we did the full tour of the area including the El Chorro area with it's Camanito Del Rey (the world's scariest path). You can easily walk to the beach but with that roof garden, why bother.

“Great penthouse near the beach” We stayed in Sept 2012 for a week. The penthouse is in a great location, opposite Paloma Park and a 5min walk to the beach. The penthouse was very spacious and clean with beautiful sea views. I have two children aged 3 and 1 so it wasn't too far to travel around as everything was on our doorstep. Lovely restaurants nearby too and plenty of things to do together as a family. Just wish there was a lift as carrying the buggy up and down was tiring but it wouldn't stop me from going again... I plan to go back in 2013.

“FANTASTIC APARTMENT/LOCATION” Thank you Mick and Sue for renting us your wonderful apartment, it was brilliant. Everything you could possibly need was there for us. The location is excellent just a 5/10 min walk to the beach and 10/15 minute walk into La Cala. There was plenty of restaurants catering for all tastes and would recommend New China (opposite Biddy Mulligans) and Bombay to Goa (across from Super Sol) both were excellent. I would definately recommend this apartment to family and friends and most certainly will book again in the future. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

“Delightful place to unwind and relax.” My mother and I stayed at Costa Lago for a week. Loved the place! It was our second stay since we were there in April. The apartment is roomy, well furnished and immaculate. The owners are friendly and welcoming. The solarium is the place to be when you want sun. Our favorite place? The terrace overlooking the beautifully groomed gardens and wonderful beach. For my elderly mother having the elevator with a private key was a source of comfort and security. Also, the bus stop in front of the complex was very convenient. Lots of restaurants only a few steps away. Delightful? Indeed.

“Two visits already and we are looking forward to the next.” We first stayed at the Penthouse in December 2010 to escape a Northern British winter. We had a fabulous stay in Alora and returned in August 2011 to escape a Northern British summer! The owners, Helen & Steve, met us at the apartment on both occasions and with a generous welcome hamper ensured that we were settled in and had everything we needed. As detailed in the other reviews above Alora is a typical Andalusian village and the Penthouse is situated in the historic part of town accessed by narrow winding streets. We travelled by car from Malaga but if you are not looking to travel far afield from Alora there actually is no need for one. There is a direct train from Malaga to Alora which is extremely cheap compared to UK fares. We chose to leave the car in the municipal car park which is only a 10 minute walk through the village centre. There is a garage and we did use it - once! Access is tight and we found we enjoyed the walk through the village anyway. Parking is free and vehicle security does not appear to be an issue in Alora. There are a number of features of the Penthouse which make for a truly great holiday. The first impression from stepping out of the lift is that of a clean and well cared for property. Helen & Steve clearly take pride in the Penthouse and from our experiences and the comments in the guest book they making sure that every visitor is comfortable and content. I mean 'every visitor' - I didn't find any adverse comments in the guest book. The real wow factor of the Penthouse however are the views. In the winter the Moorish Castle is illuminated at night and in the summer the views just go on and on. Sitting on the balcony in the evening it is wonderful to sip a beer and listen to the chatter of children below in the traffic -less street. I hadn't a clue what they were chattering about but I didn't care - they were clearly happy which for us reflected the mood of the village as a whole. This is a true Spanish hillside village where commercial tourism has somehow been avoided despite its charm and its ideal location for exploring Andalucia. If you do opt for a hire car then Ronda, Granada and the Sierra Nevada, Cordoba and even Seville are easy day trips. More local attractions such as El Chorro and the strange landscape of El Torcal Natural Park should not be missed. There are a variety of Restaurants and bars in the village but if eating in at the Penthouse seems more attractive there are a number of mini supermarkets in the village and a very good supermarket further out which has excellent fresh fish at amazing prices compared to the UK and the Penthouse kitchen has everything you need to get cooking. Elaine and I don't do return visits to the same places and certainly do not return to the same hotels and apartments - that's boring! Well that was before we visited the Penthouse! We are returning again simply because our experiences of Alora have been exceptional and there is so much / too much to see and do. If you look across the valley from the rear balcony of the Penthouse there is a viaduct in the distance which carries a 200mph train which runs from Malaga to Madrid. Madrid can be a day visit from Alora and it will be for us in May 2012 together with all the other things that we just didn't get done last time. We would not hesitate to recommend the Penthouse to our friends and family but there is something inside us that is also telling us to keep it quiet - a secret from everyone else! “Great stay!” Fantastic apartment in a great location just on the outskirts of the main town/beach. Met promptly at the airport by Michael and Claire and speedy tranfer to apartment. Apartment clean and tidy filled with all you need for a comforatable stay, including a welcome pack with champagne. A main highlight for us was the roof terrace with jacuzzi where the four of us spent a lot of time catching the sun. Huge selection of bars and restaurants near by and "Fish Alley" a really hotspot for all that you need for good food and drink,many places recomended to us by Michael and Claire. Would definatly love to stay here again and hope to book for next year. Michael and Claire clearly enjoy what they do and were extremely helpfull in making our stay perfect!
