The Ionian Islands region

Zakynthos is the third largest of the Ionian Islands and still one of the last unspoiled areas in Greece. Perfect place for people looking for privacy, far away from mass tourism, close to the traditional Greek way of life in the beautiful natural scenery.
We are on the north part of the island 2 ,5 km from small port of Ag. Nikolaos, 30 km north of Zakynthos town. From here you can take a boat trip to the nearby Blue Caves, the famous Shipwreck Beach - favourite island excursions and to Kefalonia Island. The sea is excellent for swimming, sailing and fishing. Is so clear and such an exquisite colour that your skin appears blue when you swim in it.
The Zakynthos / Port Nicolaos area
In the small port of Agios Nikolaos (distance of 2,5km from Blue Caves Villas) you can find plenty of choices of local tavernas, cafes and some small shops.

Guestbook for Blue Caves Villas
“What an amazing place!”
We have just returned from a week's holiday at the Blue Cave Villas. It was truly wonderful.
The setting is just perfect, quiet and very scenic. The accomodation is fantastic. There is such great attention to detail, and the villa was absolutely spotless.
The owner of the villas, Giorgos is the perfect host. Our fridge was filled with soft drinks, wine and beer. There was an abundance of fresh fruit and the kitchen cupboard was full of all the 'basics' you need. Giorgos left us eggs from his chickens, vegetables from his garden and even olive oil, pressed from his olive trees. You really couldn't ask for more.
My four children had a wonderful holiday. The pool was perfect, as were the mornings spent using the canoes that Giorgos had left for us to use. The nearby port is very small and very friendly (although the supermarket is VERY expensive....use the Spar near the airport to stock up when you arrive) and we had some lovely evenings eating at the taverna on the beach.
Blue Cave Villas is probably in the most beautiful and unspoit part of Zakynthos. It is the first place we have been to as a family where we have booked our return visit before we have left!
A wonderful place!

“No words could describe the amazing time we had!” September 2009, London
We had such an amazing week at the BlueCavesVilla in the first week of September – one of the best sun, sea, sand holidays in a long time! Without the villa and its setting, the holiday would not have been the same at all. Most of the developments on the island are not up to the quality of this villa. We came in a group of 8 friends and had the larger 5 bedroom villas, the rooms are so well spaced it didn’t seem like we were on top of each other and the pool and the Jacuzzi, with the backdrop of the sea and the horizon were just fabulous! We had beautiful sunsets and sunrises every day! Not to mention the number of activities available! – the villa provides mountain bikes and canoes as well as bbq facilities which we used fully! The owner, Giorgios was very pleasant, friendly and helped us find fresh fish to grill as well as the best olive oil in the Mediterranean! The villa also has all the basics - salt, pepper, herbs, coffee, pasta etc... – every little detail was thought of. But the icing on the cake was of one of the cleverest and most well behaved dogs we’d ever met - Dias! Dias showed us the way to the beach and made sure we were all safe by barking madly if any of us were separated from the group. Giorgios also came to visit regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. The private road is also great for running – although not recommended while the sun is out! There are plenty of restaurants in the area, all of which have fresh yummy food. We rented two boats from the harbour village and Giorgios lent us his cool box so we could go discover the caves and the beautiful smaller beaches at our own leisure. I can’t even think of any improvements to suggest - except maybe provision of some card or board games at the villa? We brought our own games, which was great for the evenings after dinner, while Dias snoozed away by the pool. Overall, unforgettable and the pictures on the website are definite understatements of what a gem the BlueCavesVilla is!
“Fabulous week” August 2009, Sunbury
Something for everyone in our group ranging from 12 to 45 years old. We spent the week in the Deep Blue Villa which provided a wonderfully relaxing week for the adults but with plenty to keep the children amused. highlights include Dias the dog who was a huge hit, snorkling and kayaking in the caves and the incredible views.
“Luxurious villas with spectacular views in peaceful island location...” September 2009, Scotland
Blue Caves Villas are in an excellent location, away from the bustle of the busier resorts on Zakynthos but close enough to a small fishing port with tavernas and shops.
The setting is spectacular, so close to the sea, with the opportunity to gaze at the wonderful sunsets and sunrises from the terraces.
The superb rooms were beautifully designed and decorated and the whole villa well equipped with lovely touches like the stocked fridge and flowers on our arrival and a maid service during the week( not to mention the attention of the lovely Dias- resident dog)
Our host Giorgos was kind ,considerate and most helpful throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for him to organise.
We would heartily recommend these villas to anyone wishing a luxurious, peaceful stay in a pretty island.
“We had a great time at your paradise” September 2009, Germany
We expected a lot looking at the web pages, but reality was even better. Thanks so much for all the kindness, the service and the hospitality. We will never forget the 3 weeks we spent at Blue Caves Villa's and for sure we will come back to you...
“What dreams are made of......” May 2009, England
We (my wife and I) stayed at the Blue Caves Villas (Villa Crystal) during May 2009 on our honeymoon. Having spent a considerable amount of time trying to find the perfect place for such an occasion we can safely say that we made the right choice in staying at the Blue Caves.
Upon arrival we were greated by Giorgos who showed us around the villa, he was kind enough to supply us with some esential items in the fridge along with fresh flowers in the villa and a bowl of fruit.
The villa itself was perfect, with three bedrooms and bathrooms it was more than big enough for the two of us, and the bedroom we used on the first floor led out onto a lovely veranda with perfect views of the Ionian sea and Kefalonia.
Having visited Zakynthos previously we had experienced the beauty of the island and following our stay at the Blue Caves we had the chance to see more amazing and stunning locations and views, one of which greated us every day we woke up and looked outside of the villa.
The villas are located in the north east coast of the island, away from the tourist resorts in the south and perfect for some r & r. About 2-3km from the port of Agios Nikolaos and off the beaten track the villas all share the same stunning views of the Ionian sea with fantastic with views of Kefalonia. The port of Agios Nikolaos is the closest point for taverna's and restaurants with many more dotted along the coastal road offering a variety of choice and great food.
The villas have access to a set of caves where you can have free use of the Kayak and experience the Blue Caves close up without the need of a boat trip, we like another reviewer were accompanied by Dias the owners dog who came along for the ride on the Kayak.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay that is something that little bit special in Zante then the Blue Caves should be at the top of your list. To sum up the Blue Caves Villas in a few words: stunning views, peace and quite and luxury villa accommodation.
A special thank you to the owner Giorgos for creating such a special place and making us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
This really is a place worth visiting and would love to return for a holiday in the future.
“Greek Paradise” September 2008, Malvern UK
Absolutely fantastic in every respect. Stunning location, beautiful villa (we stayed in the Crystal). The attention to detail with the decor is superb - the owner Georgios has put his heart & soul into providing the best. The little touches were very much appreciated including fresh flowers and fruit, the fridge stocked with essentials including wine and even a bag of charcoal for the BBQ!!
The Ionian sea views are fantastic with views of kefalonia one side Zante island in the other direction and even the Greek mainland in the distance. It was great to be able to walk down to the sea cave and take out the kayaks' accompanied by Dias the owners golden labrador who is a very special dog. One morning as we paddled out of the cave we saw a Monk seal just ahead - amazing as these creatures are endangered and unique to the mediterranean.
There are numerous taverna's close by so you don't need to travel far for food but on one day we took the ferry to Kefalonia from Agios Nikolaos which is only about a mile from the villa to go to Fiscardo a pretty Venetian fishing village on the northern tip of the Island - well worth the trip.
Finally a special thanks to Georgios the owner of the Blue Cave villas who is an amazing guy who through his efforts made us feel like friends rather than guests.
“Great location” July 2008, Wien
In July of 2008 we spent 2 weeks in one of four beautiful Blue Caves Villas. Ours was Palace Villa, the last of the four villas. The villas are located on the northern tip of the island, approximately one kilometers drive away from the small harbour Agios Nikolaios.
Palace Villa has breathtaking views over the ocean and is situated in quiet natural surroundings. The four villas are some distance apart so privacy is ensured.
The house is very cosy and is nicely furnished. There are a pool and terrace, which are big enough for all to use.
The owner is very nice and helpful and looks after his guests personally.
We had a great time at Blue Caves Villas and recommend it to anyone who like to enjoy a nice relaxed holiday apart from the hustle and bustle of big tourist destinations.
