Cartrefle is a large, private, beautiful beach house offering self catering accommodation for 14 people. Please CONTACT US DIRECTLY or via our home page for provisional bookings or more information anytime before that. Cartrefle is a much loved and welcoming house and has a wonderful homely, stylish but relaxed feel.

​Cartrefle has fantastic views of Tresaith, a stunning Blue Flag beach, and uninterrupted views of the sea from the house. It is one of the prettiest and best positioned large, family houses in the area. If you are lucky, you can see dolphins from the kitchen/diner, especially in the early morning and evening as the bottlenose dolphins of Cardigan Bay are a common sighting in calm seas.

​In the summer months, Tresaith has the best West coast sunsets and the ever changing skies can be watched from the house while the kids are playing happily on the beach. The clear nights are fantastic star watching in huge skies without light pollution. In the winter you can watch the surf, storms and ever changing weather while enjoying the log burner and the window seats.

Tresaith is a small village with local residents as well as many families who return year after year for holidays with their extended families. It is very much a secret that, once found, is likely to continue to a play a part in your life. It hooks you in and offers you the kind of beach holiday you remember from childhood without the hustle and bustle of Cornwall and other popular UK holiday destinations. The house is stumbling distance to the local pub, The Ship Inn, which serves local beer and great pub grub with views of the sea. ​Ceredigion is one of the most beautiful stretches of the Wales Coastal Path that stretches along the whole of the stunning Welsh coast and the house sits literally a stones throw from the path as it passes behind the beach. This makes it a great location for groups wanting to explore this area of the coastal path and more information will be on the website about transport available in the area.

Sleeps 14 people - First floor: 1 Kingsize, 1 double, 1 twin room and a bunk room. Second floor: 2 double rooms. A playroom/sleepover room which has hand made double bunks in it sleeps another 4. We leave bedding for the top bunks but prefer the house to sleep 14 as there is only space downstairs for 12 to eat.

2 bathrooms (one with a bath and shower over and one with a shower only) and also an outside shower to jump into when coming up from the beach to warm up and get the sand off! There is an outside toilet as well.

The kitchen/diner seats 10-12 with an extendable table an extendable table.

There is a large sitting room with Wifi/DVD/flat screen TV one end and a reading/music area with wood burning stove the other.

During Covid cleans these added extras have been removed.

Please bring any baby equipment of games with you for now. There is a record player and CD player with a large and varied record/CD collection for adult reminiscing! There are a stack of DVD's as well for you to enjoy. We have a Games Box with many different board games and card games.

There is a front sloping garden and a back garden with a seating area as well as a front terrace with views of the sea/beach and a perfect spot for a barbecue and sunset/dolphin watching!

We have been to Cartrefle many times with young children and know exactly what a family is looking for in a rental home. We pride ourselves on being family friendly and catering for those travelling with young children. We have recently been awarded GOLD status for our family friendliness by Approved Family Friendly. We know how much 'stuff' you need when going away with little ones and we provide as much as we can to help! We have stair gates on the bottom floor and the top floor and a safe area of garden at the back. There is a travel cot, a smaller travel cot (0-12mths), a Deuter backpack for carrying kids from 6 mths on cliff path/beach walks. There is a microwave steriliser and a blender in the kitchen and 2 highchairs. We have step ups for the sinks and toilet seats. There are 2 changing mats. We have a Play Gym floor mat and a bouncer chair. The fireguard can be doubled as a playpen for a safe baby area in the sitting room The 'baby kit' will be stored in the Utility Room and can be used as needed.

Those staying at Cartrefle are welcome to use the 2 sit on kayaks that we have there at their own risk. We have left life jackets and some wetsuits there and would suggest that you always wear these and know and check the tides before heading out.

Cartrefle is a favourite with families of different generations. Over the years, many extended families have enjoyed meet ups in the house and its perfect location enables everyone to go at their own pace and for kids of a certain age to have a sense of responsibility and freedom as they can walk up and down from the beach together. As well as catering for families, Cartrefle would be a great house for groups of friends wanting to get together and catch up over long walks and pints in the pub. There is fishing locally at Cenarth Falls and activities can be booked through local companies for coastering and other water based activities. Cartrefle could be a base for a group wanting open water swimming training or triathlon training with the sea on your door step and runs and hilly bike rides all around. Cartrefle is not just a summer house. We will have a log burning stove, books, games and a record player as well as the usual WIfi/DVD and TV. There will be plenty to do when returning from an energising, rainy, blowy walk along the coastal path and as a winter bolthole it will give you all the opportunity to get back to basics, switch off, relax and enjoy each others company and the slower pace of life.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Jo (the owner) a message.

If Jo (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
