The built in stone BBQ is easy to use, and the spacious garage houses one car with ease. It is recommended you hire a small car as access is quite tight and the local roads are very narrow.

The Mallorca/Majorca region

Mallorca needs little in the way of introduction. It has been a favourite holiday destination for Europeans for many many years and boast a fabulous climate, stunning scenery and magnificent beaches. In the 60's it was a cheap and cheerful place to go (sun, sea and sangria), but these days it is a sophisticated destination with world famous hotels and restaurants throughout the island.
Palma, the capital, is a vibrant and beautiful city with an interesting history, lovely buildings and is a centre of the arts - concerts, galleries and exhibitions. The Tramuntana mountains offer some of the most attractive and interesting walking in the Mediterranean.
With 11 peaks over 1000m, there is plenty of challenge for all standard of walkers. The main walking routes are very well signposted. Public transport in Mallorca is generally very good.
The Soller area
Tucked into a spectacularly beautiful valley in the north west mountains of Mallorca, Soller is unquestionably one of the most picturesque places on the island. The town in surrounded by mountains yet the valley opens down to the sea, giving Soller, with its port, a rare combination of trail hiking, mountain biking, swimming and boating all in one place. Isolated from the rest of the island for most of its existence (until the recent opening of the tunnel through the mountaints) Solller maintains much of its original character, offering a window into authentic aspects of Mallorcan life and culture. The town square lies at the centre of daily life and is a hive of activity with its many cafes, bars, restaurants and boutique hotels. There are a number of festivals each year with entertainment in the square. The tram down to the port passes through the square and the town is linked to Palma by road and train (the scenic train takes a relaxing 1 hour to make the journey through the mountains, although it is only 30 mins by road). The Port of Soller has a lively marina and a small but excellent beach.
