The Mallorca/Majorca region

Think of Majorca in the summer and you start to dream. Dreams that can be realised on fine sandy beaches next to the turquoise warm sea. The greens of the countryside, the villages built from stone, the exquisite food with its mouth-watering aromas, the history and culture born from an amalgamation of civilizations. All of which can be enjoy by spending your holidays in Majorca year after year.

Majorca has a mysterious charm which leaves its regular visitors spellbound. Majorca summers enjoy on average 10 hours of sunshine with temperatures rising to the mid 30s(° C) during July and August. Such highs mean the waters which bathe the coast are also very warm and indeed sea temperatures can rise to a very pleasent 26 (° C) at the height of the summer. The island boasts an extraordinary 180 beaches and calas (coves) which range from tiny creeks to vast expanses of white icing-sugar type sand.Of the 76 official tourist Majorca beaches 25 have been awarded Blue Flags by the European Union for being safe and well kept.It is the exceptional cleanliness of so many Majorca beaches and the bath-water warm sea which makes them safe for children and ideal for family holidays.

Majorca’s calas or coves are quieter and very pretty. The waters are invitingly blue and clear and are ideal for swimming, snorkelling, diving, boating and fishing.

Whether you are relaxing on a Majorca beach or sunbathing around a swimming pool the warm water provides welcome pleasure during the long hot summer days. Majorcan summers have delighted millions of visitors to the island since the mid-sixties and the island’s excellent sunshine record will ensure that many more visitors in the years to come will relax, unwind and totally immerse themselves in the beautiful mediterranean surroundings of Majorca.

Pollensa

The town of Pollensa in northern Mallorca lies some 8kms. inland from the bay of Pollensa. Guarded by the Puig Maria (puig = Catalan for hill), Pollensa has retained much of its immense charm despite the new building of residential stock, a reflection of its considerable popularity, not least amongst those from other countries who have chosen to settle in the town. Pollensa has a rich history, its “modern” era starting with the foundation of a settlement at the foot of the Calvari in the early fifth century.

Outstanding. Pollensa is blessed with some truly superb restaurants in terms both of decor and the quality of food. A mix of international, French, Mallorcan and Italian cuisine, and there are also café-bistros of a high standard. There is not a huge diversity in terms of different food “nationalities”, but what there is, is good ... very good.

The shopping in Pollensa is highly sympathetic with the style and culture of the town, hence there are art shops, furniture stores and jewellery outlets. In addition there are shoes, leather and fashion. You will be hard pushed to find much that is tacky or of a mass-tourism souvenir style. Pollensa has a market every Sunday.

Perhaps unique to Pollensa is the character of the town, in that it is not only evident by night. The narrow streets and delightful squares serve to create an atmosphere that sets Pollensa apart from most other Mallorcan towns. There is also an intangible sense of its artistic nature that hovers as some unseen aura. And by night ... just delightful.

Puerto Pollensa is just 7 km away from VILLA EMAZABEL. This picturesque fishing port on the north coast offers a cosmopolitan yet relaxed ambience. Beautifully situated along a crescent shaped bay, the views across the rugged headlands are exceptional. There’s a glorious beach situated between two headlands and a charming old town to explore. With great dining and shopping along the pine-fronted promenade, there are also boat and bus excursions to Formentor and Cala San Vincente. Great for sailing, windsurfing, waterskiing and cycling, Puerto Pollensa is perfect for those looking for a relaxed atmosphere.

"A perfect location for a great holiday."

Villa Emazabel was the perfect place for a relaxing getaway. It is set in a stunning location next to a small mountain and views to a bigger mountain range in the distance. The villa was spacious, equipped with everything we needed and was very clean. The garden was landscaped beautifully. It was a pleasure to spend the day by the pool and just enjoy the peace and the comfort of the villa.
The owners were fantastic and so helpful. Before our holiday communication was excellent and during our stay they were on hand if we needed anything.
This area of Majorca is beautiful and the villa is in a great position to explore. We hired a car and it took 2 mins to drive to Pollensa and 10mins to Peurto Pollensa, both of which had lovely restaurants.
I can't find a single fault with the holiday apart from having to come home!!!

"A superb holiday in the Villa Emazabel"

My family spent a week at the Villa Emazabel in July 2012. My family consists of my husband and I, my daughter, her husband and their seven month old baby and my youger daughter and her fiance. The villa is very spacious and worked well with three couples we certainly did not get under each others feet! The kitchen is really well equiped and new - we were the first vistors to use the cooker. The pool was brilliant and big enough for all seven of us to enjoy together. The seating area at the bottom of the garden gave some welcome shade during the day although we eat all meals on the lovely terrace.
The villa was spotlessly clean and comfortable and beach towells were provided. The beds are vey comfortable and a cot and highchair were provided at no extra cost. The owners left us a large basket of groceries including wine bread and cheese which was much appreciated..
We were able to walk to the market and the lovely restaurants in the centre of Pollenca.
I would reccommend the villa and would love a return visit!
