4 Valleys/Verbier area with 412km of pistes. Delightful, ideally located third floor apartment with open log fire and spectacular views of the mountains and Rhone Valley. Balconies to the front and rear.

Wonderful location for skiing, mountain biking and walking.

Only 500m, or 5 minutes walk, from the ski lift, ski hire shops, supermarket, restaurants, bars and bakery. Shuttle bus operates during the ski season.

Comfortably sleeps 6/8 - 6 adults and 2 children.

WiFi internet, 47"/119cm HD satellite TV and radio, DVD player and film library, iPod dock, Sony PS3 console and games, books and board games for all ages.

No charge for WiFi internet access or the underground garage parking at the apartment.

Discounted hire for skis, mountain bikes, electric bikes, ski and snowboard lessons has been arranged for my guests. British ski instructors teach here.

As my guests you will have free entrance to the ice skating rink and sports centre in winter, and the open air swimming pool and sports centre in summer.

The Swiss Alps / Valais/Swiss Alps region

Nendaz is part of the 4 Valleys region which includes Verbier, Thyon and Veysonnaz and boasts over 400km (250 miles) of piste and 92 lifts which cater for all abilities whether skiing or snowboarding.

The highest point is Mont Fort at 3330m with unforgettable views of the Matterhorn, Grand Combin and Mont Blanc.

The more gentle sports of cross country skiing, tobogganing and ice skating are also available.

It is a true four-season resort with superb skiing, mountain walks and mountain biking. 10 new circuits for all levels will satisfy amateur and advanced mountain bikers. Perfect location from which to cycle the Tour de Mont Fort.

Frequent bus service to the medieval city of Sion where there are natural thermal baths and spa open all year round. Great Market on Friday mornings.

For golfers there is a course at Sion within a 30-minute drive. Further afield there are several championship courses at Crans Montana.

NENDAZ HAS IT ALL.

The Nendaz area

Nendaz is one of the best kept secrets in the Alps. It lies at the centre of the Verbier-Mont Fort 4 Valleys ski area and is one of only seven ski areas worldwide to hold five stars of excellence.

In the sunniest region of Switzerland, which boasts more than 300 days of sunshine, you will discover breathtaking scenery stretching out over the valley and the 4000m high mountains that dominate it.

Free ski bus service around town and to Siviez lifts.

The tourist office website www.nendaz.ch has plenty of useful information as well as a diary of daily events and activities.

As my guests you have free access to use the local sports and recreational facilities. These include tennis, squash, archery, volleyball, petanque, basketball, football, tennis, in winter the ice skating rink and in summer the open air swimming pool.

If you are considering attending a Warren Smith Ski Academy course in Verbier then it is possible to ski over to the meeting place from Nendaz in good time.

Après-ski - night life
A dozen bars and discos welcome you with varied entertainment (piano bar, après-ski bar, live music . . .). A Mountain Zone in order to discover the natural wealth of the region: the Bisses (waterways), rivers, alpine pastures, forests and glaciers will offer you unforgettable images.

A Fun Zone to let off steam: ski, snowboard, snowshoe excursions, walks, swimming or climbing will satisfy all your sporting needs.

A Country Zone to capture the spirit of a country and its customs: tales and legends in the narrow streets of the old village, the making of alpine dairy cheese and a trip to an ancient mill will offer a surprising return to traditional roots.

In winter, the downhill country
The 4 Valleys domain with its 92 ski lifts and 412km of pistes presents a unique and varied sports ground. The northern exposure, the high altitude and the Mont-Fort glacier (at 3300m) guarantee snow from December to April.

For children, Nendaz rolls out the white carpet. Tracouet is the ideal site to have your first experiences of snow. A snow garden, three ski schools, a nursery and numerous activities for many moments of pleasure.

In summer, the Bisses (waterways) country
The paths that run alongside these irrigation canals have the advantage of being on a slight incline, passing through very varied locations and always providing surprising views of the valleys, villages and mountains.

By air:
Nearest major airport is Geneva. BA, Easyjet, Swiss all fly there.

By car:
Car hire from is available at Geneva airport from Avis, Hertz, Europcar and many others. Nendaz is 160kms away - a journey time of less than two hours. It only takes about 20 minutes to arrive at the apartment after leaving the motorway and going up the mountain road.

By train:
Direct from Geneva airport to Sion. The station is in the airport. Journey time one hour 40 minutes to two hours depending on the train.
Eurostar to Martigny; Sion is the next station on.

By bus from Sion station:
There is a frequent bus service to Nendaz which takes 30 minutes. The bus stop is outside the railway station.

By taxi from Sion station and airport:
Taxis are outside the station. Journey time less than 30 minutes to the apartment. The fare is more or less CHF90 depending on luggage. The same applies from the airport.

Contact the Swiss Travel Service on 020 7420 4900/www.stc.co.uk for train and bus timetables. You can also buy a return ticket for the whole journey from the airport to Nendaz from them to save queuing at Geneva and missing a train.

“An amazing view to the mountains on the opposite side of the Rhone Valley” A very comfortable and well equipped apartment, with balconies to the both back and front of the property, from which we sat and admired the view, drinking a glass of wine.at the end of a hard day's skiing. We enjoyed relaxing in front of the fire, having hauled boxes of kindling and logs up the road from the supermarket. The seating was comfortable, spacious enough for six adults. and we appreciated the well equipped kitchen, as we catered for ourselves in the evening. There was plenty of hot water for long baths, and both bedrooms were comfortable with ample storage cupboards. Although the apartment is a stiff walk uphill from the telecabine station, we chose to carry our skis each day, although we could have caught the local bus. The skiing was accessible from Nendaz, and as we only had four days available, we purchased the local ski lift, with more than sufficient skiing to keep us occupied, without extending our pass to include Verbier. We would love to return, and continue to explore this wonderful, extensive ski area.

“Great stay at La forêt” Easy to book. Owner very kind and helpful. Nice appartment with chimney in Nendaz within less than 10 mn walk to the cabin. Delightful view. Very "cosy" place to stay. We felt at home. Beds are good. Neighboors not noisy.

“Review of Appartment D3 La Foret” The view is magnificent and really does give the impression of being on top of the mountains looking down on the valley below. With a heavy snowfall through the night we awoke to a carpet of snow across the valley that really did look magical. For a holiday let it really is more like a home. The decor is tasteful and we have no complaints and I have to say this is one of the best winter holiday apartments we have stayed in. Self catering facilities are more than adequate and for a family of 4-5 the accomodation is more than satisfactory.

“Wonderful views, well equipped and definately will return..” We have had a wonderful holiday in this apartment. The weather for the first few days was like being in the mediterranean( yes, we were skiing!) , so the balconies were well used!The view from the rear balcony is breathtaking.It was fantastic to come back after a hard days skiing and just sit out there and have a beer, looking out over the mountains and down into the valley. The apartment was perfectly equipped and it was great to have milk, coffee and tea waiting for us after arriving at 7pm when all the shops were closed. The wi fi, satellite TV and ipod dock went down very well with the kids, allowing my husband and I some chilling time. The apartment was a good size for the four of us, it was clean and comfortable. Nendaz itself is changing and developing- there is enough there now to consider a summer holiday. The apartment is a short walk up from the lift station but this wasn't a problem- when the kids were tired we just took the bus two stops. There is a new funicular which goes down to the village, and saves the walk up- perfect! I would have no hesitation in staying again.

“Nice apartment with good view” We enjoyed our stay in Nendaz in La Foret. The apartment was well equipped and had a lovely view down the hill. For an apartment in a ski resort, it had plenty of space. If I could improve one thing, it would be slightly closer to the ski lifts, but a very pleasant place to stay nonetheless. Response: Thank you for your review. The apartment is 500m/5 minute walk from the ski lift and there is now a shuttle bus.

“Spectacular Views” Had a great stay.Really enjoyed the accomodation and the beautiful views that the apartment has.Close to the telecabine .Rent one of the lockers at the telecabine station to leave your ski's and it will make life a lot easier.

“La Foret & Nendaz - Hidden treasures with a welcoming atmosphere.” The only real negative was figuring out the working hours of shops in town (Nendaz). Maybe it was the off-season or something, but the stores seemed to be closed most of the time and the town was fairly deserted. The tourist office was great at helping us find things to do and even offering free tickets if they had them for some attractions. Coop was the best grocery store we found but the Aldi store in Sion was MUCH less expensive and food selections admirable. We highly recommend the hikes along the bisses (water channels) and the Music and Light show in Sion at Valere Castle (Chateau de Valere) which runs Wed. - Sat. at 9pm (check with the Tourist office for schedules). A winter visit is definitely in our plans one day as the ski-lifts are close and public transportation is good.

“A comfortable holiday apartment with fabulous views of the Swiss Alps - fantastic value for money” We had a great time in Switzerland at La Foret in Nandez and really enjoyed staying in the apartment. It has a lovely homely feel with lots of personal touches which make it a very relaxing and comfortable place to stay. The apartment was immaculate when we arrived and very well equipped. The views are completely spectacular - sitting on the balcony with a big mug of tea watching the sun rise along the valley each morning was one of life's great luxuries. . “Excellent apartment breathtaking views” Excellent apartment, very comfortable with all creature comforts and more. Truly amazing views direct from balcony and dining area. Lovely easy mountain walks, just walk up the drive, turn right, walk over the small waterfall bridge and look for footpath steps on left. The walk follows a babbling brook. Be prepared, every walker greets you with a cheery Bonjour! As you explore through the trees you will find yourself stopping to marvel at the ever changing scenery. From the main balcony you can see the village swimming pool. It's quite an experience swimming in a heating pool on a hot summers day looking at snow topped mountains. Great holiday ! We will definately come again.

“Great family apartment, convenient, comfortable and easy!” We had a great week in Nendaz, apartment was comfortable, convenient to the town and the télécabine, although for very small kids to walk to ski lift in ski boots might present a challenge (but one can always hire lockers near the ski lift). Comfortable and clean with everything we needed. We would definitely think of coming back again!
