The Swiss Alps / Valais/Swiss Alps region
Nendaz is part of the 4 Valleys region which includes Verbier, Thyon and Veysonnaz and boasts over 400km of piste and 92 lifts which cater for all abilities whether skiing or snowboarding. The more gentle sports of cross country skiing, tobogganing and ice skating are also available. It is a true four-season resort with superb skiing, mountain walks and mountain biking. 10 new circuits for all levels will satisfy amateur and advanced mountain bikers. Perfect location from which to cycle the Tour de Mont Fort. Frequent bus service to the medieval city of Sion where there are natural thermal baths and spa open all year round. Great Market on Friday mornings. For golfers there is a course at Sion within a 30-minute drive. Further afield there are several championship courses at Crans Montana. NENDAZ HAS IT ALL.
Nendaz area
Nendaz is one of the best kept secrets in the Alps. It lies at the centre of the Verbier-Mont Fort 4 Valleys ski area and is one of only seven ski areas worldwide to hold five stars of excellence. In the sunniest region of Switzerland, which boasts more than 300 days of sunshine, you will discover breathtaking scenery stretching out over the valley and the 4000m high mountains that dominate it. Free ski bus service around town and to Siviez lifts. The tourist office website www.nendaz.ch has plenty of useful information as well as a diary of daily events and activities. As my guests you have free access, and no charges, to use the local sports and recreational facilities. These include tennis, squash, archery, volleyball, petanque, basketball, football, tennis, in winter the ice skating rink and in summer the open air swimming pool.
Services Nendaz offers all the services of a big resort: nursery, ski schools, restaurants, bars, discos, sports shops and a good variety of shops specialising in local products.
Après-ski - night life A dozen bars and discos welcome you with varied entertainment (piano bar, après-ski bar, live music . . .). A wide choice of about 30 restaurants offer diverse cuisine from Italian, French, Mexican, Thai and of course local dishes to a full gourmet meal. Everyone can always find what they are looking for from five in the evening to five in the morning.
Entertainment for both children and adults A Mountain Zone in order to discover the natural wealth of the region: the Bisses (waterways), rivers, alpine pastures, forests and glaciers will offer you unforgettable images. In winter, the downhill country The 4 Valleys domain with its 92 ski lifts and 412km of pistes presents a unique and varied sports ground. How to get there
By air Nearest major airport is Geneva. BA, Easyjet, Swiss all fly there. Sion, only 15km away, also has its own airport. Snowjet.co.uk operate a service from Stansted to Sion on Saturdays and Sundays from mid-December to mid-April which means you could be in the apartment in less than half an hour after leaving the airport. By car Car hire from is available at Geneva airport from Avis, Hertz, Europcar and many others. Nendaz is 160kms away - a journey time of less than two hours. It only takes about 20 minutes to arrive at the apartment after leaving the motorway By train Direct from Geneva airport to Sion. The station is in the airport. Journey time one hour 40 minutes to two hours depending on the train. From Sion station there is a frequent bus service to Nendaz which takes 30 minutes. The bus station is directly next to the station. Taxis are outside Sion station. Journey time 20 minutes. The fare is more or less SFr90. Contact the Swiss Travel Service on 020 7420 4900/www.stc.co.uk for train and bus timetables. You can also buy a ticket for the whole journey from them.
